N54 vs N55/ Vert VS Coupe xi

Hi everyone. I use to own a 08 335xi coupe and got rid of it.

Im looking to get back into a 335 vert and was wondering what the pros and cons are between the new single turbo(n55) and twin turbo engine(n54).

Also what difference would i be expecting in performance wise compared to an 335xi coupe AT and the 335 vert MT

Im looking to get a CPO and probabaly will be tuning it again.

Been out of the BMW game for a while any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

look up the added weight for vert. for e46 it was about 400 lbs. its also not as rigid which hurts performance. on the upside you are getting rid of X-drive and Automatic....

If you're gonna be tuning, go with the n54- bigger tuning platform. If you're gonna stay stock- go n55.

Garage List
Since you are tuning go N54. I traded in my 2011 335i N55 for a 2012 335is N54 in July just to get the N54 platform.

I had my N55 with a Procede, Intake, DP, and was not happy about the performance yields.

E93 weighs just under 400 pounds more than the coupe for the 335i.

For 2007:

Coupe - manual/auto
328i - 3351/3417
328xi - 3582/3627
335i - 3571/3582

Cabrio
328i - 3792/3858
335i - 3946/3957

I have an E93 N54 and love it. It's not as rigid as a coupe, but is one of the best cabrios I've driven. It also has the benefit of having a lower center of gravity when the top is down, which is a noticible change in handling.

Have a Cobb, everything else engine related is stock (well, did add an oil catch can, but that's not performance related)..

Thank you all for the input. Wow didnt know the difference of the weight was that big. Thought the xi weight would even out for the convert. Almost 400lb. I should def test drive one.

Also what year was the final make of n54 if anyone knows top of there head? Was it 2010 or 2011? 2010.5?

Thanks

Depends upon what you're going for. If you're in it for performance and cornering perfection- get an N54 coupe like others said.

The only N54 still in production is the 335iS, and I THINK 2009 was the last year for the N54 in any other E9x.

For me, the added weight was worth it for those beautiful seasonable days cruising with my top down, not to mention the hardtop going up and down is an engineering marvel that is a riot to watch, and never gets old
