Simota V2 Intake + BMW PE - Review
Hi everyone, first of all, thanks for coming in.
Recently I upgraded my 328i with Simota V2 CF Intake and BMW PE. I bought the intake from iczz and got a great deal on the PE thanks to e60oholic. Sorry about the quality, ALL pictures and videos were taken with iPhone 4S. First off, lets start with the intake. Yes, I know my engine bay is dirty Install and Fitment - Very straight forward installation. However, the fitment for the front pieces does not fit very well, thus I used my stock air inlet. I don't think there would be any problem because the stock tube fits snug and tight with the CF airbox. Looks - Looks great. The carbon fiber quality is beyond my expectations considering this is a taiwanese brand. Sound - AMAZING after 2.8k RPM and above. The sound is the main purpose of installing an intake. Let the video speaks for itself. Performance - I did not do a before/after dyno. But the car seems to pull stronger and smoother after 3k RPM. Maybe It's just me stepping on the gas harder to play that beautiful sound Here is a video of the intake before I installed the BMW PE. Now, BMW PE. Arrived yesterday and installed today. Meaning it is still breaking in and the sound maybe different from other videos on YouTube. Yes, my car is green. The rear wheels look thin and small because I have winter tires on and they are the same size as the front ones. 225/45/R17 Install is pretty straight forward and fitment is 100% since this is an OEM part. The PE muffler is significantly lighter than stock. Although I think 20-30 lbs will not affect performance. There is zero drone, to a point that I can barely notice I have changed my exhaust with windows up. I think the reason is that this is still brand new and it isn't fully broken in yet. However, if I step on it, the sound of the intake combining with the exhaust is pure music. Here is a video of the BMW PE, 1 hour after installation. And there you go, Simota V2 Intake + BMW PE review. I think this is the longest post I have ever written on e90post. I would like to thanks e60oholic again for hooking me up with this great PE deal. |

Break in on the PE i think is based on opinion. Mine seemed loud at first then mellowed out, others have claimed it gets louder as it breaks in. I dont think anyone really has a clue lol. FOR ME I think it mellows out slightly because carbon will start to build up inside. It does seem quieter as time goes on because your use to hearing it, so your not listening for it as much as when you first got it. Mine is also very raspy when cold

Holy our cars are similar (even the trunk lip LOL),
I just installed my Simota V2 this weekend, also bought from iczz (thumbs up to him) except mine is combined with Eisenmann Race and res delete. I know exactly how u feel, ive been so happy driving around these couple days, its an incredible sound and I can actually feel more pull Oh! I managed to put the cf duct on, but same as you the fitment was off, so i had to drill the holes bigger to account for the displacement, but heres a pic!

I can actually hear how's it sounds like. I tried to put the air duct on, but after couple tries, I managed to crack the air box connection point a bit. Therefore I gave up and just used the stock duct. Any sound clip of your setup? I was debating which one to get, but I decided to get the PE instead of the $1800ish quad eisenmann race. And I heard that it has drone. |

The sound is wonderful. It's an amplified version of what you hear now, with more gurgle and popping. And as for inspection, I've had my secondary cat off for two years now and have had no issues. |
