modding a high mileage 335i?
getting myself a 335i 70k miles on the clock, in immaculate conidtion throughout, full warrenty, just been totally serviced.
plugs, oil change, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, etc etc the whole works. Im thinking of sticking on JB4, bms meth, DCI, DP's and FMIC, so general FBO and meth. Just wondering if you think its all safe to start modding at this mileage? Or would it be better to save up, get a lower mileage 335 in time and start on that? I know that HPFP's and coils etc are all on going issues for some of us, and its a bit hit and miss really weather some go wrong and some dont. Oppinions guys? |

I wouldn't think that 70k would'NT affect the reliability of your mods.
I would actually prefer a 335 with a good history that has the known problems taken care of, vs one that is low miles worth a bunch of issues that need addressed.

It's kind of sad that 70k miles is thought of as "high mileage." Unless the car is a 2009+, 70k is within the vicinity of average. But to answer your question, modding any car regardless of mileage can accelerate failure of any wear items, or bring weak points to the surface. As long as the car is properly maintained, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Ill find out but I think they are original turbos as it was the directors car of the dealer and I know the miles done where motorway and town miles so no high rpm levels to shatter my turbos! ![]() |

I bought my 335i with 69k, bought a jb4 two weeks after. Now, I'm at 77k with no problems. Also did dci and fmic shortly after putting on the jb4. Downpipes will be coming in a few weeks.

70k in my opinion isn't high mileage.
I've seen tons of 335i's over 100k that are modded like crazy.

seems like the consensus is that its good to go!
![]() Im not sure if its the same for you US guys but for some reason, M sport models are a lot more expensive in the UK. You can get a SE for the same price but with 45k on the clock as a pose to 70k. But then again, i hate the SE body, i would put a M sport body on it I worked it all out steering wheel lowering springs m sport suspension body kit headliner shorter shifter for MT guys 19 inch alloys Basically works out more expensive once youve paid for the fitment, spray etc |

70 000 miles isn't that bad! However, if you are uncomfortable with the mileage, buy a lower mileage car or don't get too crazy in terms of mods...lol...stick with the basics: wheels, suspension, exhaust, etc...IMO
