Just Bought Used 07 328i Coupe - No Nav DVD

So I just bought a space grey 07 328i coupe and When i tried to use the nav it said please insert CD. I ran a few searches to see how much its going to cost me to get the dvd, but I am not sure if there is a specific dvd i need to get to work with my 2007, or if i can get the 2009 version of the nav dvd and use that? I saw in other posts that the dvd can cost nearly 200$ from the dealer, are there any other options?

Another question - I noticed it the car has an AUX input in the center console which I am assuming is to connect an IPOD. Is there a specific cord I need to buy to connect or can i just run a search on ebay and pick one up?

Aside from this, loving the new car!

Did you buy it from a dealer or a private party? Try and contact them and see what they can do. You can also try bit torrent.

a lot of members have been burning a copy of the latest nav cd for cheap, just to cover cd and shipping costs. -- it will take a couple hours to load once you insert the cd.

I dont necessarily need to charge it, ill just pick up the male cable....

As far as the DVD goes, the newest version of the DVD is compatible with a 2007 vehicle? Ill have to look at the manual and see if I can pick up a version on ebay, 200$ seems a little steep.... Does a burned copy work the same as a regular dvd? Im not very familiar with buring dvds....

Ummm...what? The DVD-based NAV systems don't really "load" anything. Everything on the disc and read on-demand.

2009 version will work. Burned copy will read a little slower (and might make the DVD drive sound a bit louder), but otherwise works just like the real one.

I thought 2009s didn't have nav DVDs, the nav reads from the hard drive.

The OP has a 2007 car. But there is a "2009" version of the NAV DVD. It is updated once or twice a year. I use the 2009.1 DVD in my 2007 car.

Search something like thepiratebay.org for BMW NAV. The 2009.1 disc is up there. It's almost a year old...I wonder if Navteq will release a new version soon?

I got my used 08 with the burned 2009 nav DVD and the original copy of the 2008 nav DVD. Just search mininova.org, thepiratebay.org, demonoid for bmw nav. It'll play burned discs just fine. Burn it as DVD+R (not DVD-R)

Navteq....

...generally releases versions once a year in the October timeframe. The naming convention is a bit odd as it generally conforms to car model years rather than map update dates.

Accordingly, the 2009.1 is the version released in October of 2008, using 2008 map data but is the same map info released for 2009 version cars.

2009 BMWs have a HDD based navigation system, but the mapping information is identical to that released on the 2009.1 disk that updates the map data for older cars.

I should also note that it isn't important to update maps all that oftenbecause the 2009 data may not be different from the 2007 data in your area as Navteq doesn't update the whole US every year.

Check the Navteq site to see if your area has been updated recently...

Incorrect. I use a burned copy and its actually quieter(Yes, depends on the brand of CD) and it also loads at the same speed. I dont have any problems with it, and I got it for $15! Look around!

The link for the 2009.x is on this site in the navi section. Burn it and you should be good to go.
