Ambient Thermal Management- MIA??

Sent ATM a few emails and messages via their Facebook page and haven't gotten a reply in about 2 weeks. Does anyone know if they are no longer supporting the N54?

Thanks,

D

Hmmm- that's not too far off. I started to consider the Wagner Evo2 Competition FMIC, seems that and the ATM perform very similar.

Not sure if I can wait lol

There was a thread showing logs with the evo2 not performing to what it was supposed to, and ATM being better. The new ad engineering one sounds interesting, I wonder how it will perform

After seeing a few real world logs of the wagner evo 2 i realised its a pos.

The thread with the wagner tests and atm tests are bullshit.

Ive seen logs over 170f on a rb setup on the evo 2 intercooler

Well unless you are going for a glory run the recovery is far more important on the street, especially for back to back runs.

I'm also not entirely convinced on the data. Perhaps there is more that meets the eye. For example, how were the WGDC? Was the person pushing the turbo's beyond their normal efficiency range?

Your initial remark suggested the Wagner Evo 2 was as good as a trash bag. Perhaps a little rephrasing is in order, just my .02.

Forget what we vendors tell you, forget all the back and forth posts on the forums.

Wagner EVO 2 competition is the intercooler used by several BMW racing teams including AC Schnitzer and Turner Motorsports

Not sure how a forum member can call it a POS when pros use it for competition

The wagner intercooler is not a pos.

It just doesnt perform as well in any logs i have seen as it did in the wagner evo test with the atm intercooler.

After seeing a drag log of the wagner evo reaching 175f i looked around to see if the intercooler was a lemon or if the wagners all work the same.

I noticed in all logs the gets hotter quicker then the other brands like vrsf 7 inch. ER, and the big
AD for example. Maybe its just tbe tube and fin which recovers and has better flow but gets hot quick too.

Have a look in buraqs intercooler log thread.

If pro teams are using a wagner intercooler it doesnt mean it performs the best. Im sure if they put a AD intercooler in, there data would be improved.

Without comparative data and apples to apples controlled testing these posts are worthless, including mine.

I have an ETS 5" and I still sleep at night knowing an ETS 7" is better as well as a Wagner Evo II. Different coolers fit different applications and goals.

Focusing on just IAT alone actually isn't the answer although it's very important. Other things come into play like WGDC, pressure losses and the list goes on.

Slow down and cool the air too much and you increase pressure loss. Move air too fast and you might not get the cooling you need. It's all about the happy medium for your setup.

I address the first point you mentioned in my intercooler thread.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1232613

Tube and fin does get hotter quicker but recovers a lot faster and weighs less than the bar and plate intercooler

Pro team use it because they think it is the best for their application. Pretty sure if AD was better for them they would use that instead, unless you think you know better about intercoolers than their technical teams

Mike in some conditions the wagner is not up to the task.

For example drag racing.

Not direct comparison but my setup starting iats 120f at the start and ends max 136*f. 22psi e40 390kw

Wagner 120f start 175f end. 26psi e85 400+kw maybe 420kw

Similar ambients around 30 degree C
