Advice on changing autobox MCM

Iv purchased a 2008 auto box so I can use the MCM to transplant into my pre 07 box, so I can do the alpina TCU flash. I need to know if once transplanted the new TCU and MCM will work in my auto box without coding?? As I plan to drive the car for a couple days before doing the alpina flash

Thanks

I transplanted a 2008 valve body and TCU into my 10/06 build 2007 and no coding was required. I had the Alpine B3 flashed and it works great. Good luck you will love the Alpina flash.

If the newer mcm is from another N54 car you'll be fine without coding.
I used a newer MCM from a 320d (same part number) and had to code it of course.

Interesting never knew you could use an MCM from another car. It's all swapped now and works but I have a major clunk when downshifting from 2nd-1st and up from 1st-2nd. It's really bad!!!

The solenoids on my 330i mechatronic module were worn causing a bump/clunk/jolt at low speed 2 -1 downshifts as I rolled to a stop. Eventually I was getting clunks, bangs, and slips going into and out of other gears under acceleration and also the red "gear error" on the instrument panel display.

I think new solenoids cost me about $450. Might have been $600...
Anyway, they made my tranny feel like new.

Just read a couple of threads on this. Sounds like my issue, luckily I have my old unit so I'll just swap that back in which should fix it.
