i know. luckily no mechanical damage, though 4x4 light came on for a minute. and the splitters are cheapo ebay ones that ive been meaning to replace.

My options now are:
1: price out paint
2: ///M Sideskirt and hope the door buffs
3: clean it up and wrap it like i planned

4: sell it and lease an f30 . . .

Sorry for you, dude!

Xdrive is too efficient. Makes the car go to fast in the snow.
With RWD you can have lots of slow-mo fun almost without any risk!

Too Efficient INDEED! but its so nice to pass jeeps and trucks uphill while their 4 wheel drives are spinning out

Pros and Cons both ways i suppose so it wont be a deciding factor for the next car. just as long as it isnt FWD

Id go with the whatever the cheaper option is between wrapping/painting it. Then I would wait a year and get a CPO f30 and make it a FBO f30 ha

Snow drifting is so much fun, so fun that we sometimes forget about the consequences.

Xdrive is unpredictable sometimes when you really get sideways (for fun). Noticed it the first time I put my blizzaks on and went out to a parking lot. The system shifting the power around even with DSC and DTC off can be a hazard if you aren't aware of where the power is going. I've had a couple close calls because of it even in open spaces.

ive never had a problem with predictability with DTC and DSC off . . .

i have winter tires as well (hankook iPikes) and as the video shows it runs just fine. i ran into the ditch because of user error. the road had more ice (from previous sessions) than i thought and it swung out further than i wanted and i overreacted with the counter-steer.

can anyone confirm how xdrive works when dtc and dsc is off? i thought it just defaulted to 60/40.

Pulled this off another site for reference:

The normal state of the stability/traction control systems (no lights on) is DSC on (DSC: Dynamic Stability Control). As noted, in this mode the car will brake individual wheels and/or override the throttle as needed, to keep the vehicle on course and suppress almost all wheelspin.

Pressing the traction control button once, briefly, actually switches DTC on (Dynamic Traction Control). DTC tolerates considerable wheelspin to improve loose-surface traction (snow, gravel, sand). It also raises the threshold for DSC's yaw-control intervention. DSC is still active, but it will wait for you to get further out of shape before attempting to save you.

Pressing and holding the DTC/traction button for 2+ seconds turns DTC and DSC off. Now you're back in 1980 and the only thing keeping the car on line is your own wits & skill. However, the xDrive dynamic torque-bias control is still active (can only be disabled by pulling a fuse), which still keeps the car considerably more stable than a rear-driver with DSC off.

It's supposed to be almost instantaneous. Don't know how accurate that statement is but I definitely feel it when it happens. Don't know if that's because you're in an E90 and I'm in an E92 or if I'm just more used to RWD so feeling the front kick in more/less bite is easier for me to notice.
