waste gate rattle is getting worse - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I honestly love my car however it's driving me crazy. the rattling gets worse and worse. Especially if I drive spirited. The only temporary fix for it is to turn my car off and turn it back on. and it rattles less.
I'd love to get this fixed but I ran out of warranty 2 months ago and I don't think I want to spend 6 grand just to fix a noise.
What are my options at this point?

Call dealer -- see if they can log a PUMA case for you? Maybe BMW will let them do it under warranty since it expired not too long ago.

Have you ever brought it in and had the dealer look at your car for a waste gate problem? If you have, and it's a known issue at the dealer, you will have a better chance

I live in Canada would they still be willing to do the PUMA for me?
I know that in the USA they extended the warranty for 8 years for the turbos

What's the possibility of taking a us vacation and swinging by a dealer?

Try 2-3 bmws dealer, or call BMW, maybe they will do a good will replacement.

Worst case, couple grand, get into some RB turbos. Will be fresh, and last longer.

BTW, r u stock? Most tunes, have adjustable wastegate positions to help with rattle

My cars completely stock.
I'm actually a bit afraid to call BMW because if worse comes to worst i might get a year extended warranty and then get it replaced.

This option may work -- in that way you pay a discounted price for new turbos. Personally, I'd try calling a couple of different dealerships and talking to them about your situation. See what they say about logging a puma case; they are the ones who would have the best insight as to whether or not you have a shot

Hope it works out for you. Wastegate rattle can be very annoying

If I talk to the dealership and they know about my wastegate rattle wouldn't that void the extended warranty im getting since it happened before i got the warranty?
