Who went from e90 330 to 335?

And would you do it again?

I really love my 330i, but I'm seriously considering selling it and purchasing a 335, maybe even an Xi (get some hairy snow here in the Appy mountains).

Thing is, I don't track, I don't race, I don't really drive fast but I do like to have some get-up-and-go when passing/overtaking.

Who has done it?
Is the extra oomph worth it?
Hows the reliability?

I have both an E90 330 auto and an E92 335 manual. I can tell you the E92 is the one we usually pick whenever we go somewhere for some reason and I have 13 year old twins. They say there is more room back there, I don't know, I am not getting in the back.....
As far as power, there is quite a bit more since you feel the power of 300 ft/lbs of torque. You definately get up to speed quicker. I would probably go with the 335 over the 330 with my experience so far, nothing has gone wrong with either.
Manual is so much better but a 335 auto is better than the auto in the 330 by a little from what I remember. Just sucks when you go from one to the other and try to push in the non existent clutch to change the gears that do not need changing.
Since you have a manual anyway, stick with it......
Gas mileage is 23 on 335 and 25 on the 330 so no huge difference.
Go for it, like I said I have had zero problems with either.

Thanks for the comparison.
Do you feel that a lot of your preference towards the 335 is due to the Manual?

I know what you mean about the manual- Drove my daughters car the other day and almost went out on the hood punching the "clutch" that turned out to be her brake.

I would probably say yes, although a 330 coupe in manual would be optimal but it is not available in the US. I was worried about the costs of maintenance due to turbos but like I mentioned, nothing so far.
Knowing what I know now, you cannot go wrong with either. The best way to describe it is the 330i eases up to 60 and gets there pretty quick, the 335i is just violent up to 60 and puts a smile on your face every time. However, other than acceration, and the subtraction of 2 doors, they are almost the same handling wise.

Here is oposite
Driving automatic for couple months, I don't like automatic but there weren't car with manual transmision here to buy.

Now happen couple times to get to another car and start the car by pressing brake and not clutch, really fell like idiot after that

BTW. I really don't like automatic transmision over manual but if there exists some aceptable this is bmw and alfa selespeed, any other car with automatic transmision is just ridiculous.

I'm really on the fence with just getting the AA tune on my 330 and enjoying the NA I6 goodness. I guess since I plan on driving my car to at least 150k, the 330 may be the smarter choice.

Thanks again for the comparison.

Ha, at least you only FELT like an idiot when it wouldn't start. When you are actually moving and jam on that big brake pedal, thinking its a clutch, you LOOK and FEEL like and idiot!

I went from a 328i coupe to a 335i sedan. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I do a lot of city driving so I rarely get to open her up but when I do its nothing but grins. Add a JB4 into the mix and forget about it. The only thing I regret is not getting a manual but finding a used one in good condition is near impossible.
