Need Advice...Driving to Manhattan, parking is a PITA. Suggestions please? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Hey guys, i will be driving to Manhattan this next week to stay with my girlfriend who lives in Chelsea. I don't mind driving to the city, but i hate parking and i hate taxi drivers. I always end up leaving with a parking ticket (weekday street cleaning) and plenty of wasted time searching for street parking.

-Suggestions on where to park in Manhattan that is reasonably priced ? *Haha i know reasonable priced parking in nyc is a oxymoron* but id figure id ask.

OR

-I don't necessarily need my car and i would honestly rather park my car and commute into the city. I've never done this so any advice would help on where i can park my car for consecutive days. lmk what to expect for parking fees and if my car would be safe.

I know Hoboken is one stop away via train from Chelsea so that would be ideal.

Hoboken is a party spot, so parking can get expensive.

Your cheapest option would be to park in Jersey City. There is a parking lot right across the street from the Journal Square station. I would park there, and then take the path train over.

Or you can park in Queens and commute via MTA instead of PATH.

I think there may be a few lots in Long Island City, which would leave you only 3 stops or less into the city via 7 train. Otherwise, you'll be able to find street parking in closer neighborhoods as well such as Sunnyside. Just read street cleaning regulations before choosing your spot.

Isn't there a garage near chelsea thats self park for about $50 a day?

You can park in Williamsburg, right off Bedford on the L, I would advise parking near bars, usually north 4th in between Berry and wythe, I can check up on your car before and after work each day

The only garage I know that lets you park your car and is big enough to allow you to park the car far enough to make sure no one parks next to you for few days is all the way downtown right above Battery tunnel.

From there just take train to Chelsea.

But don't leave anything on the windshield or in the car, the security is very lax.

i live in this apartment buidling in battery part, and its $35 per 24 hours with this coupon.

look up on central parking for other ones in different areas and there may be similar deals in better locations for you (but this garage is about 4 blocks away from the world trade center E train stop or the 123 line chambers st stop. (i do this walk every morning as i commute to long island)

Do you know the price by chance? I think im going to try and avoid nyc. All garages are going to be $30+ a day and i wouldnt be driving anways

Thanks for the help, ill look into it. However i cant afford 5 days of parking at those prices haha

No worry, I wouldnt offer if it was a hassle. I get tickets EVERY time I park in NYC so I feel your pain

I am in Union NJ...I think you can only bring dogs if they are service dogs.
