small leak at meth tank fitting, permatex? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Have a small leak at the trunk mount meth tank, have teflon on the threads and it is a VERY small drip....can I use permattex (resistant to alcohol,gasaoline ect) on the outside flange? ignore the text in the pic about it being tighted..it is LOL!!

I permated it, have to say the design is VERY poor...metal threads into plastic = dumb. I didnt overtighen this either. compression fitting would be much better on this apploication

I tried a different fitting, leaked after a day so I took it to a body shop and they permantly sealked the fitting to the threads LOL!!

Hasnt leaked yet...I also modified the setup a bit (hated the pump inside the back of the enclosure...binded the line a bit to much and made it hard to see if air was in the line. I also mounted the pump on the tray above the amp and sealed the holes so any small spills could be noticed and contained. I would like to upgrade the fittings (probably not possible)....talking with Howerton engineering about maybe even upgrading the tank/fittings to aquamist....and using my exsisting 200 psi coolmist pump, lines and flow sensor.

your sooo lucky you can mount your 2.2G tank/ in that location!!! I have a "hump" there for whatever control unit.

I'm not fond of the new Cooling Mist solenoid plastic fitting either! Or the one on the pump, but so far I haven't had leaks from those locations.

i agree lol!! Yeah the coolmist tank sucks....no ifs about it. The connections I do not care for either.....if I did it all over again I would go aquamist no questions.

It can leak but no fluid......do you get any air in your lines a lot?

Well I am getting 25% flow if that....this system is pretty much is a cheap POS honestly.....works 10% of time 90% of the time doesnt...lesson learned. will start another thread to see if anyone has any ides why this kit doesnt flow, have seen many others with this issue. Will check again for debris....there where hunks of plastic the size of a 1/2 dollar in the tank when I first got it LOL!! There are no leaks and no bubbles I can see.

would goto 300 but not instantly...then it would stay...I go to drive WOT and it goes to 180 and limps LOL!!....go check tank and I have air.....

Found debris in selonoid I believe LOL!!
