what's up guys... noob e9x-wise but no stranger to cars.

Kind of concerned about the wear on my seat bottom... I'll be honest I've searched and read a ton of threads re: dakota care and it seems as though the consensus is that it has a plastic "coat" on it and as such renders a conditioner application moot...

at any rate the car just turned 30k miles, and i've treated the leather once after my 9k miles of ownership with lexol cleaner/conditioner.

call me lazy but hell, i'm busy. i've been told to treat the leather once a week, but i mean, come on, and i do believe that as i drive co-workers/clients around and the dye from their pants mars the coral red.

either way, i can't reverse what the prior owners did do my driver seat, but i make it a point to ingress/egress the car in a manner that i avoid bodily contact with the bolster (which i deflate upon parking).

thoughts, folks?



i mean, i wasn't in a position to buy a 335 and i unloaded my stage 2 nogaro b5 S4 since the maintenance on it was crazy but should i be worried about the wear pictured?

i'm not a big guy either just 190ish 6'. i'd like to keep the seating in this vehicle in the most tip-top shape as possible as i did purchase it as opposed to the lease avenue

Once a week is a bit much. I tend to do it once a year, but I'm sure twice or three times a year wouldn't hurt. Zaino works well.

But when I first got my e90 I was religious in cleaning the seats once a week, but my old habbits (or lack there of) kicked in and I clean them maybe once a month. If you're that worried, just do your seat and maybe the passenger seat. If you're like me, the back seats don't see too much use.

Mine has 84k miles on it and the gray interior looks pretty much like yours now. I think that the wear plateaus if maintained.

I bet you will have problems with that bolster motor if you use it every time you get in and out. At 30,000 seats should not be bad. I've got 50,000+, clean and condition twice a year and seats look virtually new.

seats appear too glossy to have been treated with lexol. i would clean it all over again. this time, use hot water with lexol cleaner, allow to dry, then apply lexol conditioner.. seats will appear less glossy and will be properly treated

at 42k miles on my 08, clean and condition every month or two, seats look pretty much new

There is no need for "treatment" of Dakota leather. It is a coated and sealed leather. You only need to wipe it down with a cleaner. The more you treat it, the more you break down the top coat. Your seats have been cleaned and treated improperly, plus the drivers seat is a little stretched out. All of my BMW's with the Dakota leather look like new and have only been wiped down with a damp cloth or lexol cleaner diluted as the instructions state.
