any issues with warranty if you change oil yourself? does it have to be done at dealer?

not sure if it has to be done at the dealer (provided you are out of your maintenance warranty), but you will have to use a BMW approved oil to maintain the warranty

def using approved oils, just dont want to do the 15k interval thing, and now that maintenance over, ended in oct i would love to get under my car once in a while at least for that little bit of fun. if not approved for self done, would at least want to take it to an indy shop i trust.

Just go buy BMW's oil and filter. Won't void the warranty. You can probably use other oils as well that are approved (it's a short list)... but shouldn't have warranty issues.

A lot of people just buy BMW oil and replace the oil half way through the BMW interval then get the free BMW oil change when the time comes once a year. I'm getting my free oil change tomorrow because it was a year since my last free one. They were like oo your car doesn't need an oil change, I was like well BMW says or once a year if you don't hit mileage. So I got it lol

I received two FREE oil change under warranty.......

and have been doing my own oil change every 5,000 miles for the last seven years.

just use the appropriate oil and OEM filter and you should be fine....
(I used Mobil 0W40 or Castrol 0W30)

ya i normally do my own but in chicago now.. apartment, no garage right now.. actually did an oil change behind the pep boys once.. they were not all that pleased.. hassles of renting.
