Horn sound when locking car

Sorry I can't do a search on the mobile app....

But how do I set the car to give me a "confirmation" honk when I lock the doors. I checked through the settings on the left stalk but couldn't find it. Only option I found was the lights going on. I have a 2008 328i sedan
Thanks

The only possible way would be intense coding.. But I've never heard of anyone wanting to program that. Just sounds soccer-mom-ish

Beep... Lol but I read on the PDF manual they have on the forum that its an option on the left stalk. Can't find it for some reason.
It's not a big deal, but just wondering if it can be done

I'm pretty sure a dealer has to do it with their computer.

When I bought my CPO, I had the dealer turn off the horn confirmation. I'm not a fan of cars honking/tweeting/chirping every time they're locked/unlocked. The soft clack of the locks is plenty confirmation for me. I suppose a horn/chirp can be useful when locating one's parked car in a sea of fat SUVs, Japanese Jeeps and soccer-mom buses that everyone drives these days, but not all the time.

My guess is your car didn't come with a factory installed alarm. Same thing I learned about my LCI E90. Look into a RemoteKey+ if you want the functionality for relatively cheap.

Finding my car in a packed lot is exactly why I want it lol. Ill ask my techs about it, ( which I should have done in the first place lol )

This. If you buy a factory alam, you will get the beep and the clown nose will work also. However, to get the alarm to work properly, it must be coded in.

I have a 2006 330i with iDrive and there's an option in the menu to have lock confirmation set to flash lights only or flash lights and sound horn. If you have iDrive, you may have a similar option. If you don't have iDrive, check your manual: there may be something you can do with the BC stalk to change the programming.

check out BMW Coders, its in the coding thread.

Plenty of info on there about many coders that can give you many little fun things to add onto your baby.

Don't attempt to code yourself if you aren't experienced, because as far as I'm aware, you can screw up your ECU and car in general quite a bit.

You need to have factory alarm for this to happen.

Yeah factory alarm comes with such functionality for sure. Others BMWs I had in the past came with factory alarm. I am surprised my loaded 330i did not. Its ok I rather have what I have now . I am sure it can be coded. My car make lights blink but no sound when locked/unlocked. I am sure the horn can be added to this function. Its a matter of coding ECU I think. Right coders??
