Serious problems?

Hey guys, I went to my local BMW dealership and found a 335i that appeared interesting. It was a 2008 sedan model (n54 engine) fully loaded priced at about 19k with about 56k miles. I asked for the carfax, but was a little hesitant after seeing it. I'll list the the repairs done to the car and at what mileage the repairs were done at.

12/20/07-(5 miles)-car delivered

7/28/2009-(15,790 miles)- 1st eng oil service, micro filter replacement, roof functions centre FZD software error/ internal device fault, brake fluid change (full maintenance program)

6/03/10-(31,310 miles)- standard operation mp, vehicle check, oil service

3/23/2011-(39,617 miles)- standard operation mp, micro filter replacement, door stop, front loose. RR brake pads, brake fluid change. N54 HDP, N54 injector check, N54 programming HDP

8/17/11-(45,038 miles)- standard operation mp, maintenance service-spark plugs, oil service, LEAK at gearbox connector, automatic transmission leaking, eng air filter-dirty

5/01/12-(52,984 miles)- coolant pump permanent malfunction. Bracket steering column switch (coil spring cartridge)

The car at the dealership now has around 56k miles. Would you consider buying this car? I don't know much about 335i's, but how serious are these conditions looking at the carfax. I'd appreciate the feedback.

That's early for coolant pump failure, but that happens a lot to these cars. Now the leak on the gearbox is more unusual. Is it CPO ? There is a possibility that the head gasket leaks after pump failure, better knowing you have recourse if its the case.

The rest is usual stuff for a N54 (recalls on HPD, etc). So its not much to worry about, actually its a sign you got the upgraded parts that work better. The column thing is probably replaced because it had a tendency to rattle on many cars.

Garage List
Nothing that you listed was a major malfunction or of any concern. The funny thing is you seem to be scared with a service history that seems complete and detailed. This is what you want to see, a used BMW with a factory service history. I think is sounds like a great car!

i had an 08 335 at one point. everything on your list happened to my vehicle as well except the water pump...but it appears as though that was fixed. the latest HPFP that BMW put out fixes the issues with the original. my car did leak as well (though i forgot what it was exactly) and the dealer took care of that leak w/o any problems. As long as it's CPO (100K mile, etc), i think you'll be okay buying.

Get up to speed on how piggybacks were installed for this engine. There should be tell tale signs found at the wiring in the engine bay. If you find evidence the prior owner installed a tune I would ask for steep discount or walk away from the deal.
