BMW Performance Exhaust for E92
Has anyone had one fitted.
I have today, picked car up and it looks like I've been to honest Jim's Car Parts and had one fitted from another car by a man wearing a balaclava the wrong way around. It sticks out like two sore thumbs and looks totally aftermarket not BMW quality. ![]() Last edited by E92MP; 02-07-2013 at 02:48 PM. |

Yeah that's down to your fitter. The performance exhaust requires the existing exhaust to be cut in order for it to fit on. They simply haven't cut enough away and as such it sticks out too far.
Go back to your fitters and ask them to try again |

I thought it had to be spliced back [ if that's the term ]. |

that is defo wrong, they need to be cut back as said above. what surprises me is a fitter (who is probably got x amount of years experience) can stand back and not question that looking out of place

Go back and tell them to read the instructions! The PE comes with comprehensive fitting instructions and is very clear about how much, and where, to cut the old exhaust. I know, I fitted mine myself and the supplying dealer gave me the pukka BMW fitting guide.

its a strange thing with exhausts they do seem to bed in after a while and sound better. on my 330i the pe took about 7000 miles before it sounded any good and have to say even now its not that loud. I know its a different engine but the one on the 335i is fantastic. I certainly don't notice a difference in the performance though.
