So Whats Everyones Average MPG???

Also, can you give a % of hwy vs city driving.

I am getting 30.5 mpg and I think I do 75% hwy and 25% city driving.

I am at 30.3 or 30.4 mpg with my ratios reversed. I define my city to be more suburbia.

Anywhere from 32-34 mpg. NYC driving, mainly highway, lots of traffic.

Take a look at my fuelly, I've only tracked the mileage on that for the past few thousand miles.

I've been hovering around 27-28mpg. I'm probably at about the same split, maybe 66% hwy, 33% city. My commute is about 12mi on the freeway, each way. I also do the odd long freeway-only trip, and runs through the twisties.

I don't think so but opinions vary. I do it two ways. One on my own vehicle spreadsheet that tracks all my costs by date and mileage. The other is www.fuelly.com. In both cases it is miles since last fillup and gallons used. Apologize for overdoing my answer.

Wow I'm the best so far at just over 37mpg lifetime average.

80% of my commute is highway at 70-85mph. But we also use my car mostly doing family stuff. I also take my kids to school every day(about a mile and a half round trip) and pick them up frequently. I figure the car doesn't even get a chance to get warmed up on those.

On weeks they're out of school, and my car is only used for commuting (60 miles each way) I've had tanks of over 40mpg. My best mileage on a tank was 640 miles, which worked out to just under 42mpg.

I'd love to see more people on fuelly with this, based on my math, the on board computer can be up to 2-3 mpg off for the entire tank.

From my experience, the computer is taking samples fairly frequently, however tends to 'throw out' the higher mileage samples in favor of lower mileage samples very quickly so that its not factoring them in anymore. For example: I drove 225 miles on the highway on the way home from a business trip, cruise set at 75mph the whole way (some limited traffic) and the iDrive was showing 35.6mpg when I got off the interestate. I went STRAIGHT to the guel station that I use near the house, around 14-15 miles of heavy traffic 35mph driving, stop and go, etc... and by the time i got there it had dropped to 33.1. Fuelly calculated it to around 37mpg.

If you're not on fuelly, sign up, let it run a tank or three, and bookmark it on your smartphone so that you don't have to log into the service, just pull it up, type in your numbers, and then drive off.

I posted this on another board, may be helpful:

Carefully watching cause and effect for well over a year, I believe I have a handle on what impacts MPG of the 335D. Using highway driving under optimum conditions (flat roads, less than 75 MPH, ambient temp about 70 but NO AC usage), I achieve 40 MPG. These are the factors that reduce that amount.

The EGR program update lost 2MPG (That has been fixed with a later update)
A/C uses 2 MPG
Each 10 degree drop in ambient temp temp loses 1 MPG
18" wheels may lose 1 MPG or so (I have 17's so cannot verify)

Also averaging out all the manual MPG calcuations with my OBC, I get 4.5% better MPG than the OBC indicates.

Thats what I've noticed as well.

Another thing, the range calculated is VERY accurate. if my distance traveled added to the distance remaining, divided by 16.25 gives me a spot on mpg for my tank. ie. 540 miles would be roughly 33mpg. 570 miles would yield 35mpg and so fourth.

Agree with the skunk as well. I generally find the on-board computer is 1.5-2 mpg more pessimistic than my manual mileage calculations.
