MMW Headers- Teaser - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Hey everybody,

Just got my MMW headers (black ceramic coated) from the cyber Monday deal that Gavin was running on FB. It took about 4 days for them to get from CA to the east coast, but I got the tracking number from Gavin so I could keep an eye on where they were in transit. They were packaged very nice with plenty of bubble wrap to keep them safe.

They just arrived so I took plenty pictures, install should be either this weekend or next (depending on when I can get access to free labor and a lift) so I won't push the issue it otherwise I'd have to do these on my back

.

FYI- I dropped them when I took them out of the bubble wrap

, so that scratch you see is just that...

I'll be running these with the AA tune which I expect to arrive any day now, so I download my ecu file and send it to them to modify. Then after I install the headers I'll upload the new modified AA tune to the car, and then I'll be clear of the CEL light.

Videos/pictures of completed install will follow of course... stay tuned

Got mine recently too! Can't wait to install them!

. The only thing I didn't like was Gavin lied to me telling me that they were his last pair ever. Lol. Silly marketing.

Hah, no I dropped them off the work bench in my garage. Took them inside to take some pics...

One of these days we will get a dyno before and after. Congrats on the headers though! Interested to see if you run into an complications for room with having an xi.

Pro tip...The slip ons are on backwards in your pics. The big end fits over the headers and are clamped on, small end mates up to the stock 2.25" pipe size

whats up with the middle pipe on the rear header close the the flange? it looks like it has a hole burned in it?

Thanks Johnny D! That's why I have my mechanic buddy to help me with these things hah! I was just excited to see them so I threw them in there quick.

It looks that way in the picture, but its just the scratch that happened when I accidentally pushed them and they fell off the work bench. I checked them throughly for any defects, and they look/feel pretty solid all around.

That looks a lot better, thanks for the picture Johnny D. I removed the pictures with the slips on facing the wrong way to eliminate any further confusion!

My friend is a master mechanic so he probably won't even need to look at the Bentley manual. As far as AllydNYC concern about having an xi, I'm sure we'll run into some problems and set-backs but you always do on a project like this.

This thread has some good ideas on what to expect, that hopefully will help with the xi install...

Well, the lift at the shop was unavailable so no install this weekend. I'll be out of the state next weekend so I think the weekend of the 22nd right before Christmas will probably end up being the date of the install.

In the meantime, on a sound related note. I used a db recorder on my iphone just to gauge the noise level of the Performance exhaust, and these were my results. This was done by holding the iphone at 45 degree angle while bending down to hold it about 2 feet behind the exhaust. Today was about 40 degrees outisde.

I'm not sure, best bet would be to contact Gavin (gavin@mmotorwerks.net) and see if he is going to produce any additional sets. I think on his FB page he said that these would no longer be in production...

Cant wait to hear it with the PE. i have the same set up and i've had the headers for about 3/4 months but i've been hesitant to install them because i wasnt sure how they would sound together lol.

or i might sell them lol

Super loud and raspy. Someone has already installed a PE with headers and posted video.
