Severe hesitation on 335is common?

We've owned the car for about 3 months, and I love it.
Hesitation s never the word i associate with this car....
Today I was getting on the highway on an entrance ramp with a minuscule run up lane ( 72st heading North on West Side Hwy)- not usually a problem in this car.
Today I floored her and waited about 1 second- felt like an hour with that Durango coming up on me.....
Felt like maybe traction control was kicking in.....
anyone else have this happen when sudden acceleration was called for?

I'm assuming your traction control notification would have illuminated on the dash if you were having traction issues.

I assume it is a DCT?
If so, I also assume you kept it in Auto mode and just floored it. If so, I have seen the same -- hesitation for second or so and then kicks in... If I shift it with pdals, another story...

could be because you weren't in sports mode? I'm not sure, i'm still in the break-in phase with my 335is..

I don't know what the issue may be, but I've never experienced any hesitation with my manual 335is.

I've never experience any hesitation. I'm almost always in M mode shifting myself though. Downshifting when I need it is super quick and I've never experienced hesitation.

If you drive in auto mode, car can hesitate in certain situation. IS tune is programmed a bit better than 135i dct in this regard, but lag does happen.
If you were slowing down a bit before getting into ramp, dct might be thinking that you are actually slowing down then change its logic to slow down mode. If you floor your pedal at that moment, dct may take half second or more to engage into acceleration mode.
Your car may also could been at high gear and low rpm situation where it may take little bit for turbo to spool.

Because of this, I always drive my dct in manual mode with sport button on and manually downshift into right gear when slowing down so that i get immediate acceleration.

Its normal. Its becuase u are in high gear low rpm. When you floor it it makes the computer think you want the most power possible. So it downshifts through about 4 gears because you will be cruiwing on 7th but your optimium powerband is at 2nd-3rd gear when you are going 60mph. So it has to cycle four gears down and then rev match it before it engages the gear. So ya thats where the hesitation comes in. However if you are already in the optimum gear then there wont be any hesitation. I would suggest you push the sport button when on the highway. It reacts much more quicker than the normal mode.

I experienced this twice when my car was brand new. I now have 35K on my 335is. If I need to accelerate quickly from a stop or when merging onto Interstate, I am always in Sport or Manual. The DSC will cut power if it senses lateral movement or wheel spin. To avoid this, activate the Dynamic Traction Control. Never deactivate the Dynamic Stability Control. And yes, there is a difference between the DTC and the DSC and they are not to be confused with the DCT.

Hmmmmm I had a similar problem but then I realized I drive the 328 so it is normal for me On a serious note, it is somewhat normal, unless it happens very frequently.

I have DCT ( still miss that third pedal,but this is definitely the next best thing) Generally I immediately move the lever to the left, and press sport button before departing.
Good chance I might have forgot ( or stopped, shifted into P and forget to re-engage) the sport mode and sport button.

I have not been using the paddles- but I guess that would have been the time to start.

Yes to the little yellow DSC light coming on during the episode as well.....

Sport mode only disengages if u turn off the car completely.

If you hit the park button when you are still in sport it will remain in sport mode and when you shift back into drive it will still be sport drive.
