BMW Specialists + Insured warranty work

I'm considering going the specialist route now i know mondial bmw warranties don't stipulate i use dealer networking servicing.

However, anyone have an idea if this makes it more difficult during a warranty claim?

I had multiple bits replaced last year, some quite hard for them to agree to, but they eventually did. I suspect that if i hadn't serviced my car with them, the result may not have gone in my favour. I at least used it as a bargaining tool.

It's about £100 more with BMW for my oil change, air/fuel and brake fluid. But i also want both my stats changing and possibly my crankcase breather (at least inspected).

Anyone have experience or any views on BMW not wanting to help if you've had it serviced with a 3rd party.

No experience of unwillingness from BMW in the circumstances you describe.

Personally, I'd ask BMW to try and match the price from the Indi for the oil change, air/fuel and brake fluid.

Then get the Indi to do the stats and C/breather,which are far from the norm for a dealer to do under normal circumstances, and the dealer would no doubt be asking you to bring in some KY jelly along with the cash to pay

The dealer did ask for some KY Jelly

They are doing the service but i'm sending the car to Darren Wood for it's stats and breather.

An e90 member Shane posted a great guide on the stats but i dont want to risk anything.

Once the stats are done all the things that normally need replacing at some point on the 335d will have been done. I'm selling it early next year so some might haven't had bothered but i couldn't sell it knowing a typical operating temp of 75-78 will eventually lead to DPF probs, costing 1.4k for the next owner.

As far as I'm concerned under block exemption you can have the car done/repaired under a warranty at any VAT registered garage providing that:

1/ The repair is carried out using BMW supplied parts. Customer should/must for their own protection and validation retain if presented/made available any documented receipts for any parts used should in the future the repair called into question.
2/ The repair is carried out in accordance to the said manufacturers/warranty company's code of practice(how do you prove/disprove that this has/hasn't been done as they'd wish/require the repair to be carried out)
3/Everything and the decision as to where the car is repaired should as far as I'm concerned should from the end user be fully stated in the claim o the warranty company under their claim procedure process before any repairs are carried out.

We've done a good few warranty claims and haven't come across any issues the key is keeping the warranty company informed and from the repairers side not over egging the claim.

Re the difference in warranty prices between main dealer and indy tough one really as I suspect the labour difference would deter some dealers from perhaps taking the work on as on a budget which hey have to meet it may not be viable.
