Also figured I should update today. Ok so today my buddy came over to help me do a bunch of logs. We did 5 logs of the ISO after it fully learned then let it cool down and did 5 logs of the G4 15ohm. I also realized that the G5 has the same amount of rattle when letting off the gas at 1500 as the G4 does except that the G5 has an occasional loud rattle at startup which the G4 doesn't... Other than that the same thing as before happened. Logs for ISO look better in my opinion but the G4 made more power...

Below i'm going to put the all the logs from today and then the virtual dyno's of each. All the VD dyno stayed the same with occupant weight at 380 (me+220lb friend in passenger seat).

any updates on this? i just swapped my g4 (15ohm mod) board with a g5 loaded with iso, set it on map 5, let it idle and warm up, then i took it around, getting on off the exits in the highway, then i did a little city driving.
i was not impressed. it does run A LOT smoother in the city, n seems to have more low end torque, but it absolutely sucks in the freeway. it does not pull as hard as the g4 at all.

im running vrsf dps, full unrestricted cpe exhaust, burger dci, and the jb4 and a 40/60 mix of e85/93, it is about 35degrees now here in ohio

It seems a lot of people are running into this. I just was told by a friend the same thing. it happened on old turbos and his new set as well...

I ordered the G5 last week, but after all the problems people have been having I don't think I'm gonna install it. When it comes to tuning a car and all the little things involved I really think you need someone who can physically make the appropriate changes and not do a 100 logs back and forth trying to get it right. I've asked Terry many times for help and he says, "read the forum." Ridiculous.

Terry is usually helpful weird... but yeah the wastegate rattle issue is not cool. what I find weird is I[ve been asking around and it seems a lot of people have but barely anyone complains about it...

on the other hand, it's a shame because I heard boost control is awesome on ISO.

I'm sure Terry will get it ironed out.

+1 Terry's service is usually awesome. When I had the iso it was a lot smoother and pulled hard but just didn't feel as fast as my G4... That was also confirmed from the logs in this thread. That's why I switched. Now i'm between trying out iso again or making the switch to cobb and a protune over the summer

It's up to you in the end, but having already tried it, give COBB a chance and go with an E85 protune and then you will definitely pray for me weekly lol

I've tried all of them. nothing matches what I had with FBO + E85 + meth. FBO was 95% of the way to peak power I made on stockers , meth was IAT suppression supplemental fuel and may be a tad higher timing.

So you had the Jb4 then switched to cobb? Only thing I don't want is less power. I'd probably do protune for 93 and e85

Any update on this guys? I'm going to buy the Jb4 G5 soon but before I do so I want to know more info on these 'lags' and 'wastegate' rattling. Hopefully this gets sorted out because now I'm reconsidering big time.. Thanks to these threads. GL!

I had the JB4 for gauge hijacking mainly. But I used to flash stage0 and try it out every once in a while. I still preferred COBB.

once I installed my meth kit (HFS4), I went for a protune for meth and E85+meth and dude it woke up. It made stage2+ agg feel stock hehe. Hell it was a lot faster than the race map.

A buddy of mine, had the G5+e85+meth and we always ran on the track. he was so impressed with my car that he sold the g5 and BMS meth and replicated my setup. He just did a protune and before it was complete he made 200wtq above stock,... I'll let him join in with his experience but his car is a monster compared to before. @cwarren

Wow that's awesome to hear looks like I might make the switch. Idk about meth though I mainly wanted a tune on 93 and then a tune for e85 mix but i'm sure i'll want more power and do meth eventually

For me meth was more about keeping IAts low, most of the power came from E85.

Meth did help a bit with fueling since I was doing 50%, but for 40% it is not needed.

FWIW, virtual dyno was very accurate for me. +/- 10hp/tq to my actual dynojet dyno. Pretty good for computer wizardry and a JB4 log. I'm not suggesting that it can replace a real dyne session, but I think it's a useful tool.

one more thing, even if it's not accurate, it's great for relative comparison!

Yea I know its not accurate but I figured 5 back to back runs same day, same mods, same weather, same fuel, etc... is a relatively similar comparison of the power the two boards might be making. Terry said its not accurate and the reason it's showing up on virtual dyno like that is because of the logging speed or something along those lines. Idk though

I know they ship out around 40-50 g4 to g5 updates per week and I've yet to hear of many complaints other than from a few g4 conspiracy theorists. If you are running slower with the g5 you are doing something very wrong.

On being referred to the forum did you ask something common that is addressed in their faq?

The G5 uses a different timer system for usb output which is probably why they said to take any log timing dyno changes with a grain of salt.

The iso has come a long way since it's release but all new JB4 G5 systems still ship with integrated firmware which is basically identical to the G4 only with the G5 hardware features in place. Iso is considered beta.

Certain elements of the iso software like being smoother and having less over boosting perhaps make it feel weaker to a select few but throw it on the dyno or track back to back and you will see the benefits.

Yea idk I loved the smoothness and boost control but just couldn't help myself with the logs and feeling. It might have just felt slower since its much smoother. I still might try it again but i'm waiting until its out of beta to make my decision on whether or not I want to do that

A properly functioning wastegate should never rattle at any position under any circumstances so maybe they were not adjusted right when replaced? The G5 can do a lot more than the G4 can in terms of masking rattle though. If you are running ISO drop them a note and they can help you sort it out.
