Intake & Oil Issues
So my last car was a modified G35 and there were always discussions about aftermarket intake filters improving the performance on the VQ engine, but a downside was that oil from the aftermarket filters would get sucked through the manifold and eventually decrease performance. It seems on the N54 that most people go the route of an aftermarket oiled filter (whether cones or drop-in), but I have yet to find any discussion on the topic of whether this additional oil being sucked through further decreases performance? I know there is already oil coming through on these engines as I have seen it myself on my car, but I just wanted to see if topic has been brought up?

N54s use MAP and blow by oil as is, i've never heard of a well made filter causing issues on this engine.

Oil will only be sucked in if the user over oiled it when cleaning. It wont do any harm, oil gets into the intake anyways tuned or stock. even though peopel say oem intake isnt that restrictive, any intake option should increase flow for more hp. I havent heard of any engine failures due to an over oiled filter, most people are afraid of it throwing a code because it covers the maf(for cars with mafs, 335i does not have maf). if you're afraid there is always dry filter options.

Ok thanks for the feedback. I figured an oiled filter wouldn't change the characteristics of the car much over stock given that when I purchased the car from the dealer last month, I bought a JB4 and blew off (broke) the OEM chargepipe and when I replaced it with an aftermarket one, I could see the interior of the OEM chargepipe was already coated with some oil.
