Oil On Brakes= Malfunction! (help)
So long story short, I didn't place the large O ring on the oil filter cap and got oil sprayed all over my engine bay which eventually ran down my underbody and wheels. Shortly after, my brake light wouldn't go off after I disengage my parking brakes and now the computer telling me I need new brakes. I tried driving around to burn off the oil driving in stop and go traffic but the problem still occur. I'm going to spray them with brake cleaner when I get home to see if that helps. Anyhow, have anyone experience this before? Should I just replace my whole braking system (pads, rotors, & sensors)?
More info: I know I have about 13,000 miles of pad life and brakes are performing as normal... I just get a few noises here and there.

I would jack up the car, remove the wheels and at least partially disassemble the brakes (pull out the pads and maybe take off the calipers and rotors and inspect for oil residue). then clean everything with brake cleaner and put it back together.
Don't forget to look at suspension parts and the inside of your wheels which may have had oil splashed around on them. |

Maybe the oil mishap is just incidental, and you are just getting the error from the pad life sensor ? Visual inspection of the sensor and the pads is required at this point, and also make sure that any annual fluid bleeding has been performed on time, the computer would complain about that too (rightfully so).
