resale value of my car

Hi guys,

I would like to hear your opinions about something I wanna do to my car, but Im not sure about it yet.
So...my car is an E92 SE 2007 325i with 66k. It has some upgrades like White Mtech LED white angel eyes, LEDs everywhere inside the car, boot, etc.., boot lid spoiler, MV3 alloys staggered 18" with brand new tyres.
The next thing I wanna do is to install a prosatnav with Makan ( guy from this forum) . It will set me back 1400 and if I decide to sell my car a year later lets say...will the satnav add to the value of the car? Or am I gonna loose all the money spent.
Thanks

You will definitely loose, but who cares, fit the satnav if you needed and forget about the money.

Technically yes you will lose the 1,400 but it will make you're car much more apealing thus increasing the chances of a sale.

Think about it extra toys would attract more people ... I can certianly speak as when I was in the market for one I was very very picky and I dive in a BMW is a must just as how you'd expect to have leather

It will add value to it, look at prices of ones on autotrader without nav vs nav. You might not get the full 1400 back as extra value but you'll get some.

I wouldn't have bought an e92 if it wasn't for nav because I think it makes the interior look and feel less old

Personally I don't care about Idrive or satnav and would never pay extra for it.

It will made the car more desirable and add some value, not 1400 though.

I'm not sure it's worth it with a car of that value. You will always lose money spent on a car though.

I reckon in real terms it adds around 1000.
Even when you are down to 8k cars I still think it adds at least 700.

Plus if it is the latest CIC unit it will make the car feel much newer than an 07.

I would pay around the same for an 07 325i with CIC as I would an 09 without, in fact I wouldn't want it without.

Very well said and valid points by two wise guys on this forum. Enough said.

If I was to keep a car just for one year, I would not bother much about it. However if I was to keep it for 2-3 year, then its a different story. Its a matter for finding balance between how much you loose (money wise) vs how much you gain by using it.

Also, the ones that have the idrive sell far quicker, so although the asking is around 1000 more the sale difference might be even bigger.

Cars with media prof book at 1000 more trade on 3 series, on some models they book for more than the media prof sells for new, it is that highly sought after.

I think most of the posts above pretty much cover it - I don't think you'll ever get your full investment back, but it will certainly make the car appealing to a wider audience.

I've no doubts most people prefer leather, but the car I eventually bought has the Alcantara/cloth M-sport interior, and frankly that played a big part in my decision to go for it; in my opinion, it looks much sportier than the (often saggy!) leather. Ultimately everything is subjective!

Hi guys, thank you all for the answers. I think I gonna go for it. I think I can get 1000 back from those 1400. I can live with that loss
Im gonna keep this car then for as at last another two years and maybe get some front and rear M sport bumpers from ebay. Will need to find a good paint shop to match A51 Montego blue colour

Dont forget the other option of fitting CIC and keeping the old stuff you remove.
Then put it back to how it was when you sell it and sell the CIC separately

Of course a car with CIC is more desirable & commands a higher resale price!

I'm with others - around 1k more & easier to sell! But if you have CCC, I agree with dest - put in back in & recoup most, if not all your money!

The removing-mods-and-selling-separately thing applies to aftermarket kit not OEM stuff. Plus the 2 lots of labour is just pissing more money up the wall.

Not always! I've seen a few people on here remove CIC before selling the car and lots of other OEM upgrades too
