Removing torx screws???
I've looked at DIY for replacing kidney grilles and I've seen ones that say to remove torx screws, as well as some that say it isn't necessary. I have an 09 e92 and I want to put on the black grilles I got for Christmas. Does anyone know if I can do it by just unclipping the grilles, or do I need to get the tool to remove the torx screws?? Thanks!

Torx set is like $25 at Sears. You will need those bits to uninstall your engine cover for things like spark-plugs/coils. I suggest you buy the tools and do it right. Ive spent over $500 on tools for this car, and i love working on the car because of it

you can also pick up a set of torx screw drivers at home depot. Igot mine in a kit with screw drivers and allen wrenches for 10 bucks. It looks like a package with 3 really big swiss army knives

You can also buy torx bits that fit onto any standard ratchet head. I have picked up several of these at AutoZone for a few bucks each. Quite handy as a lot of our underhood bolts are torx (T20 and T25 seem to be the most common).

But really, get the right tools eventually so you don't have to take apart your car with paper clips and toothpics. ![]()

Removing the torx screws allows you to pull the bumper somewhat allowing you access to fit your hands and unclip the grills.

Come on guys, if you're going to mess around with your car yourself there's just no excuse not to have the right tools for the job at hand.
