So I bought oem 220m wheels last night with stock 245/35/19 and 265/35/19 and I'm rubbing like crazy , and I hear a ticking clinking noise while driving ... Should I get smaller read tires or is it worse then that

220M are the E90/92 M3 wheels correct?

From what I've read the aggressive offset on these makes it quite the squeeze for the standard rwd E90/E92 and even more clearance issues for the XI ones.

Yea they are the m3 wheel, in going to get my fenders rolled and hopeful the noise I heard was a rubbing issue noting more ....

You need smaller tires. I'm running oem 220s with 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 no rubbing

Maybe my math is wrong, but I think those size tires puts a ~2.1% difference in the rolling diameter between the front and rear wheels.

I believe the rule of thumb for our xi cars is to keep it under 1% so we don't stress out the transfer case. The ticking, clinking noise would worry the hell out of me. For a staggered 19" setup the sizes phozenstone posted above would be ideal, or 225/35, 255/30. I think in another recent thread someone was planning to run 225/40, 255/35 which would also be good.

That rear tire size is too big for a non-M E90/E92. Get 265/30-19's. There is a 0.7" difference in diameter between front and rear, which is not going to do your drivetrain any favors either.

thats what im going to be buying, even though i rolled my fenders, just as a precautionary...

How could that be, if the xi has more clearance than the i?

Are all four wheels rubbing? I've seen many people go 35 front 30 rear w/o any issues. How much are you lowered? That would definitely cause issues.
I will be attempting to put 40 front 35 rear with 19 inch Style 67 M3 rims this summer. But then, I have an xi and am not lowered at all.

ALSO, I would be VERY concerned about the noise. Since your wheels are staggered, your front and rear tires cannot be the same height. This will cause a rolling diameter difference higher than 1% which can seriously mess up your AWD. The noise you mention sounds like the transfer case issue to me due to the diameter difference. I would definitely reconsider the tires with the RIGHT size immediately so the diameter difference comes down to recommended numbers.

As others have stated, the noise you're hearing is NOT rubbing, it's due to the fact that your front and rear tires are over 1% different in overall diameter.

Take 'em off ASAP or you're gonna jack up your AWD system.

I have 265/30/19 in the rear and they r doing just fine
