exhaust question (i did search already)

i have a 328i and would like a louder sound, not more power just a better sound. now i know that a straight pipe (which is what i want to do) is pretty loud and obnoxious... and i dont mind that at all, i just dont want it all the time. so i am choosing to go with an electric cut-out.

my only few questions are:

what brands are good?
what size should i get?
is a low profile neccisary?
what is the best location to put it?

thank you in advance.

p.s. i know there are misspellings i apologize, and everyone has thier opinions of what sounds good, and what doesnt so try to minimize the law and order svu towards me lol

"SummitŪ makes electric cutouts simple. These universal 3.00 in. cutouts will make your ride come alive with the flip of a switch. Some wiring harnesses and switches are sold separately. Just bolt the 6061 aluminum unit onto the end of your dump pipe and hit the switch, and the butterfly plate on the 2.50 in. exit opens to reduce backpressure. If you've got a dual exhaust, grab our special combo package that includes two electric cutout units, plus a special wiring harness with a single switch to operate both cutouts at the same time"

interesting...

The Remus powersound muffler for N52's also give you a level of adjust-ability for sound as well

okay well then after doing some shopping the best bet i have is with the summit racing one, which is suprisingly affordable, at just over 200 for the electric cutout, the wiring harness, and the y pipe with bolt on flange. so i think im going to do that. now a question remains,

i have already removed the resonator....

if i put the cutout in the middle of the car there will be a nasty drone and it will scrape on every speed bump, how close can i take it to the muffler, space-wise?

Before I read this thread I had no idea "electric" exhausts even existed.

Yea, well I mean if they are as advertised, then it's surprising. I've heard of people rigging up sound systems to simulate exhaust noises from a speaker when they throttle it , but this is the first I'm hearing of electric cutouts.

thankfully the thought of a speaker playing noise doesnt appeal to me.... but the cutout does and i think im going to pull the trigger before sunday....

i know that our exhaust is 2.75" but they dont make that size cutout so im going 3" and im goin to talk to the muffler shop next door, and see how far back we can push this thing.
the difficulty in doing that is that there are a lot of bends near the muffler so its hard to find a straight piece of pipe to use....
