Could someone please help?

Could someone please tell me what the differences are with methanol, and ethanol as I'm from the uk and constantly see people on here saying they're running e85 mix and so on and so on.

And would just like to know a basic understanding with it all.

Thanks for anyone who takes the time to help

Quick and Simple.... Ethanol is used as a fuel or fuel additive. Here in the states, they are adding it in higher percentages to our fuel. Methanol is used in our (modified) cars to cool down the intake charge (and sometimes exhaust charge) to create more horsepower. So..

Ethanol - Used in fuel
Methanol - Used for cooling down intake charges to create more HP..

Again, that is the quick and simple
