Restored my steering wheel trim, looks great!

Tried plasti dip and that shit is garbage, so i stripped it and went with the 3m scotchprint matte black, and it looks great. Took about two hours getting the vinyl just right.

GD Iphone camera is all messed up, and shoots pics the wrong way even if I shake it and hold it length wise.

good show, been waiting for a post like this because I have the same issue and steering wheel. Does it look like the stock rubberized coating, or close to it? what are your thoughts on just waving a spray can of matte black spray paint at it?

Regular paint will not look quite right (ive tried it,) but the vinyl looks more like a factory type of finish.

I'm working with a paint supplier right now to procure the OEM paint. But this was a lot less expensive than the OEM route will be.

I would personally go with vinyl as well. Painting it sound messy and a larger margin for error.

My roundel is a roundel placed over the stocker, but fits great, and has good adhesive. The oem steering wheel roundels are plastic welded in place and removing them is a bear, so dont even attempt it.

I just replaced the trim around my 07 e92 steering wheel. I purchased a mint piece from another forum member. This means I have an extra trim piece if anyone wants to do what the original poster did. I will let it go for $35 shipped in the cont US.

Is the vinyl more durable than the the oem coating? A couple pieces of my dash are all scraped up and this seems like a viable fix for me.

i would say the vinyl will be more durable. I swear that oem paint stuff chips if you look at it wrong. grr.
