XI Staggered Tire Calculation Tables

After so many posts asking “will this staggered tire combo work”, I decided to make the following charts to help out.

Any difference above the generally accepted 1% is crossed out on the chart.

The factory staggered setups are marked in BLUE.

From my personal experience I like the factory 18” staggered setup vs my 235/275 19” setup. Why? 17” looks too small on a e90 and 19” offers so little sidewall bent wheels are inevitable.

Enjoy!!

PS: The tire data was takes from S-04 and Pilot SS, there could be variably among brands and models

This is great info. Much better than guessing when using the tire calculator.

Can you make it to show positives and negatives? The front tire diameter should be larger than the rear and then within 1%. Smaller does not work.

I can and in negatives in a few days. I haven't heard before that the front needs to be bigger, what is the reason?

Negatives added, I am still not convinced it matters.

my first set of winter tires (some continental variety), i tried staggered at :
Front: 225/45R17
Rear: 255/40R17

I would get the traction control light at speeds over 50 mph, so it may be manufacturer dependant (check tire specs). So I switched them out and used a square setup. Problem solved.

shouldn't a tires rolling diameter be a more accurate way to measure?

That setup should work, but there is variability among brands.

I used diameter. There also is circumference and revolutions/mile. I have those too, the results are basically the same.

STICKY this already. I've come back to it a number of times, and seen threads made that could have been answered if this information was readily available.
