What size tires for 18.5/18.9? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Just ordered me some 18x8.5 et 35 18x9.5 et 35 wheels for my 09 335i coupe. Tirerack suggest 225/40 fronts and 255/35 rears. Can I go any wider than this since I have those extra .5's and without creating any alignment issues? What is the widest I can go safely?

235 front and 265 rear are the standard wider options.
you can check this forum for exact aspect ratio for 18'' wheels.

Does the sidewall remain same? So it would be 235/40-18 and 265/35-18 yeah? Also, if I wanted a 255 rear would I need to get a 225 front? If there any benefit to have the -10mm or am
I better off with the wider set?

Cool. As far as comfort and smoothness, would I want 235/265 or the 225/255 ? Or will it be the same? Obviously I'll get better traction with the wider set?

With wider tyre setup you get better protection for the wheels. It also might be little bit more comfortable,because more rubber, but also tyre brand/rubber stiffness affects to that.

Yeah I'm going to get the hankook Ventus v12 evos. They seem well balanced between comfy and performance.

on 19x8.5/19x9.5 I am able to fit 245/275. Would this not be the case with 18" wheels? Widths are the same.

It's possible. But I want to keep a decent sidewall for pothole protection. That's why I chose 18s. If I wider then I'd have to go smaller sidewall.

245f and 265r or 255f and 275r

Doesn't 245F and 265R create some kind of ratio being off? I thought if I choose 265 rear then I need to have 235 front. And if I chose 255 rear, id need 225 front? Am I wrong?

Yeap wrong. Use the calc on top if you want and search-read-learn.

245 on 8.5 and 265 on 9.5 max. Wider rubber = higher grip.

Are you sure? Can anyone else confirm this? I'm 100% I want to have the 265/35-18 rear. What front do I need? And when you suggest 245... Is it 245/40-18?
