Where the heck do you live that is sky is got so many stars??? I have lived in the USA for 12 years and quite frankly I don't ever remember seeing a sky beautiful such as this.
Your new camera must be playing tricks on me.

Looks awesome. NEX is a great camera - purchased the NEX5N earlier in the year.

Did you set it on intelligent auto or priority shutter?

Long exposures exaggerate visible stars for sure, actually the sky was mostly black when that was taken
