This is fantastic, it's awesome to see the car up and running at 200k. You always hear about it but don't often see it.

OK, I read the entire thread, and it was a good read. However, I don't recall reading anything about the battery. If it was at the beginning of the thread, I must have forgotten about it.

I read that the T-stat and Water pump went out at different times. When the T-stat went out at over 100k miles, why did you not replace the water pump at the same time? Since I am lazy, I would have done both at the same time.

Not that I want you to incriminate yourself, but what is the top speed on your daily commute? Do you think that your speed contributes to your oil burn?

For those hoping that their 335i can make it to 200k, I am getting close with mine. I'll keep everyone updated. So far no major replacements except for the transmission pan. I've got 168k and should hit 200k by September.

So I'm at 207,200 as of today. I replaced the battery in October 29, 2011 at 158,800 miles. It was a preemptive replacement because I have a BMW credit card that I get points on (which were expiring) and redeem for cash at a BMW dealer, so the battery I got for free. My original battery had run down twice because I left the parking lights on twice, and one time I was in the car for a while running the radio and the low battery light came on. In the winter of 2011, the car was slow to crank a few times so I decided to replace it. I still have the original battery and keep it around charged up on a battery tender in case I need it for something.

The T-stat started showing a fault code around 100,000 miles. I was hoping it was going to work itself out (BMWs have a tendency to do that), but ended up replacing the T-stat at 134K. Around 143,000 I discovered that the water pump had been throwing shadow codes for slow speed deviations, which had started at 138,000 miles. The pump finally went at 149K. Keep in mind that I was experiencing all these things at times way before anyone else because of the mileage I accumulate on my car.

My car runs beautiful today. The motor is still strong with OCIs averaging 17.5K and I run the car pretty hard at times. I'm still averaging JUST OVER 27 mpg. I replaced the suspension with BMW OEM parts and got an alignment at 183,000 back in July 2012. No shop I can find will get the car back into proper alignment, which pisses me off (and makes me mad that I redid the suspension in the first place - I should have left it alone). I was averaging 35,000 miles on a set of high performance all-seasons until I got an alignment and the last set of tires that I put on the car in November 2012were toast 11,000 miles later at the end of February. I just put on Continental DWS's on Friday last week at 206,890 miles and got another alignment. We'll see how these tires fair and if the alignment is good.

My car started out using oil at a rate of about 1 quart every 16,000 miles. It's now down to about 1 qt every 10,000 miles, but a found all the pan bolts loose a few weeks ago and small leak at the pan gasket in the left rear of the engine. I tightend up all the bolts, but have not trown it back on the lift to see if the leak has stopped. Being an old fart like I am, it is unheard of that any car consumes oil at such a slow rate of 10,000 miles per quart; I'm used to adding a quart every 3,000 to 4,000 miles or so, so I remain impressed about the little oil consumption the engine has.

Cheers.

I don't either. My 135i had it, my sport package 328i doesn't.

Nope, 2006 models have the useless instant MPG gauge, coolant or oil temp would have been more useful. A dipstick would be useful too. Oh well.

CONGRATS !!!!
I LOVE the fact that some of the members don't consider a 335 with 80-100l miles extremely high mileage.

i think the n54 wasn't the engine of the year for the past couple of years for nothing

That was the mileage range I was shopping for. I don't like spending too much on cars and there's no reason you can't find a nice sub-100k car that should be reliable too.

I've had mine for 8 months and I've only replaced the plugs and done a couple of oil changes.

Any 335s with 200K yet? It would be interesting to compare the big-ticket repair items to get there vs. N/A...
