Need Help... Vac Tank and Hose

Ran into a bit of an issue with the lower vacuum hose going into the vacuum tank.

I was replacing the passenger side DRL bulb and it was being ridiculously stubborn. When it finally released, I hit the lower vac hose and it disconnected from the vac tank. It looks like a connecting piece cracked off inside the hose/tank.

Below are some pictures to help show what I'm talking about.

My question is, how do get this hose reattached? New hose? New connector? New tank?

If it's a new hose or connector, can I get that from any automotive store?

I'm fairly mechanically inclined, but cars are still a bit new to me. Just want to make sure I don't make fixing this more difficult/costly than needed.

Thanks.

Looks like you broke the nipple right off, I would go to an Autoparts store or maybe a hardware store and buy a brass fitting and just thread it into the plastic. Then cut a bit of the hose so you have a fresh bit of hose and you should be all set.

Something like this:

my thoughts exactly as a temporary fix till you can get the new part in your hands. Use some teflon tape on the brass hose barb to help seal it. I had to do this on one of my DV's as a temp fix.

I wouldn't be surprised if this Brass Barb + some good Epoxy will be stronger than the stock plastic nipple and be ok as a permanent fix.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try the brass fitting for now until I can get a new vacuum tank shipped to me. A replacement OEM tank runs like $30 + shipping, so no big deal there.

I definitely wouldn't doubt that the brass fitting is probably stronger than the OEM nipple. I barely touched the thing with my hand and it cracked clean off. It probably doesn't help its 5 year old hard plastic either...
