My "other two cents":
What you contemplate is a lot of money for a used 328i.....and, it doesn't sound like you've locked yourself in to a car. Many of us commit to a car, thinking it's great, bone stock, and later decide to make changes to it to keep things interesting. In your case, it sounds like you haven't bought a car and you're laying out all the things you'll do after you buy it. If it were me, I would look at the cost of 328i + 15k plus mods and think there are plenty of other cars in that price range (besides a 335i) that are likely superior to the 328i. Before committing to your plan, I'd be out testing a used Audi TTS, a used M3, a used Cayman, a used.... |

Same part number on the front control arms and swaybar. Next time why don't you check your facts before you preach. Where did you hear that? And yes, having way less power/energy to transmit to the suspension usually means it will last longer. Good luck on your endeavor. The 335i is more of a DIY'ers car. Many of the issues that go along with it can be done yourself, taking it to the dealer for every issue would be expensive. Especially since most dealers' techs are complete morons. ^Is this you? And your car doesn't even have factory xenon and you're spending all this money on it? Have fun blinding everyone with your two big blobs of blue ricer light.

Interesting take but a bit off. You have more parts to change on the N51 to create power. In addition, a 3 stage intake is more effective on a higher compression engine, i.e. the 2006 330i and the N52 in the X3 that has less restrictive emissions parts. You are really kind of pigeon holed on the N51, especially when you go for smog. SULEV engines don't really get better mpg, it is made for better emissions and gains in mpg are through the non dct transmission which keeps revs down, if you drive in a spirited manner and keep the rpms in the power band, you wont yield higher mpg.
