320d Garrett Turbo? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Guys, just out of interest, what year did the turbos change to Garrett on the 320d? Was it 07 or 08?

I have a 163bhp with mitsi turbo, the new 177bhp engine might have garret but you would be best to ask the stealer.

the million dollar question is, does all 177bhp models including 2007 (07) E92s have the new Garrett turbo?

looking at one of these now, its on an 08 plate, think it may be Effecient Dynamics

Are these 177bhp engines reliable, need to know before i take the plunge!

I think my Jan 2007 Alpina has the Garrett turbo.

The 177 bhp engines have problems with timing chains! I found out the hard way the chain broke in my car costing me €2500 fix so if you are looking at the 177 e92 make sure there is no ticking when running! Also the dmf can go in these!
