That's definitely not the bulb you need. It's just H8 halogen bulb. Pretty simple install, pop the top cover off with a flathead screwdriver, reach in and turn the bulb to get it out of the socket. Unplug bulb, plug in new one, and reseat the new bulb.

Here is the direct link

There are a few on YouTube but they are very sketchy and unclear. I did mine a couple weeks back and it's pretty straightforward if you have some car/mechanical aptitude. The main thing is that you have to remove the tire and the wheel well cover no matter what. And after you remove the cover you will find that the AE is covered by a roundish black cover. It's below and to the left of the Xenon bulb box.

thanks for tips and link. What bulb did you replace with-where did you get it? It looks like they remove and replace the full space-age-looking assembly with the bulb inside, did you do this or replace just the bulb inside the assembly? Are there two of these assemblies adjacent to each other, on for the left AE one for the right?

I type of bulb needed is called the H10W bulb and i bought it from BMW. I went to many independent shops such as Lordco, Princess auto and canadian tire, but they said it was a very unique and rare bulb so they said my only option was the dealership. I just replaced the bulb and not the whole assembly. For the passenger side Angel Eye, the assembly was to the left of the xenon assembly, so I am assuming it will be mirrored on the drivers side.

I think I might have the stock ones laying around as well as the MTEC v3s. Install is pretty simple but if you need help, feel free to PM me.

I can help here. I just did this yesterday on my 2006 E90 325i (pre LCI), so your car and my car use the same HID headlight units. The bulb is captured in the Halo housing (which is the unit you replace for $50 US) and can't be removed without modifying the housing with a Dremel tool. If you don't have a Dremel tool and the proper cutters, or have not used a Dremel extensively before, then just go buy a new Halo light. It is not for the novice to use the Dremel to extract the bulb from the Halo housing. No disrespect meant here.

Below is a DIY to remove the bulb from the holder that is close enough to what you need to do. That DIY is not for the same Halo light part that our cars use. I didn't take any pictures for my work I did yesterday, but I wrote up a step-by-step attached. It did it from memory, so the bolt count may be off by one or two.

I tried to change just the bulb but couldn't get it out. I gave up and just upgraded to LED's. I recommend you do the same.
