If you are spending this type of money, why not get it tuned by the company over in Germany? I cant remember their name off the top of my head, but v supposedly they can tune the engine to over 270hp.

Also there is a company that sells a stroker kit that will get you 300+HP.

Well from the numbers you provided and added up they come to $14,761 and the labor estimate might be a little low and you didn't include shipping costs for all the parts. So I can see $20K in cost. None of the performace add-ons will do anything for an actual increase in performance.

Leave the cosmetics alone and build the motor for the money you'll spend and get some real performance gains.

The stuff you listed is over $16,000. Plus labor, paint and misc expenses puts you easily at $30K. Plus the cost of the automatic base model 3-series that you will festoon with all of this stupid crap and you are at $50-55K for a slow car that is worth about $15,000 because it is so hacked up. Knock yourself out.

It is his car, let him turn it into a frankenbimmer. It is no different than what a lot of other people are doing. It is not for me, but I am always interested in the final result. Look at Dimitris' M3 conversion, he got dumped on hard for that and now it is coming together nicely.

As far as money spent on performance, a few HPDE track days would probably make you faster than some of your choices. The 335i racing exhaust is a waste as your car wont have enough back pressure to make it effective. I would put the PE on instead and take the extra cash to the track.

Well I've heard the best 328i tune is AA Stage 2. Might as well stick with that. And any chance you can find that stroker kit? Sounds interesting!

Relax, bro. I'm getting 20% discounts off everything, and won't be purchasing a few of these parts. My friend is a Dinan-approved mechanic and agreed to install my parts for free. Everything will cost $35,000 for a sexy yet well-sounding bimmer. That's my goal, and I know it will turn out great.

The 2011 335i is worse than 2011 328i for many reasons:

-less reliable
-worse MPG
-more expensive
-sub-par bushings, plastics, etc.
-twin-turbo is unnecessary

I will not be purchasing a 335i or M3. The 328i is the car for me.

There are plenty of ways to get 300HP on a 328i. On a N51 engine, aftermarket exhaust,3-stage intake manifold,intake,stroker,methanol injection, and stage 2 tune will give you some great results.

I am all for you spending whatever you want on your car, that said, what makes you so big on the N51 SULEV vs. the N52B other than that is what you ended up with? The N51 has more restrictive parts. Just curious.

quite the list, if I had this kind of money:

in the "performance" category, I would be inclined to spend less money on exhaust and intake and put the money into suspension / wheel / tire

M3 front control arms
M3 rear subframe bushings or powerflex inserts
Camber plates
Apex ARC-8 or EC-7 (lighter unsprung weight) for summer
Hankook Rs-3 for summer

...and no way I'd have an automatic

I believe so. Even if it doesn't, it also doesn't have TWIN TURBO, meaning there is much less chance of having any issues with these bushings.

N51 SULEV has the 3-stage intake manifold, gets better MPG, and produces the same horsepower AT A LOWER COMPRESSION RATIO, meaning it has more potential than the N52 engine.

Looks like a pretty solid list.. but why the 335 exhaust? Eissennman has a 328 exhaust im pretty sure. No need to fake 335, although the duel exhaust looks nice.

Thanks! I'm a huge fan of the dual exhaust, and so I'm gonna have custom work done so I can install it. Can't stand the 328-type exhaust.

From the tell of this list it is obvious you care more about looks than performance, the automatic is the biggest tell. I could care less about how you spend your money but if you are willing to dump that kinda change into your car do everyone a favor and do a before and after dyno.

I would agree with the comment above about about the 335 PE and you shouldn't waste your money on the PI, just get an euro intake and save half that coin!

I will definitely post a before and after dyno for everyone. I'm not expecting much HP gains, but then again, that's not my goal for this build anyways.

The irony is that 1/2 of the people commenting how I'm spending too much on my car have spent at least $5,000 in modifications themselves haha.
