Is BMW Owner's circle order tracking accurate?

When I first took a look at my order status, it showed the correct color (sparkling graphite) for my car, but incorrect interior (black leather instead of leatherette) and did not list any options (sports package, heated seats).

I took a look again today and now the correct interior is showing up, but there are still no options listed.

My dealer has assured me that the options are listed on their system, so I'm wondering if other people with cars on order are seeing the same thing ...

I ordered over a week ago, and it shows color and model only. No factory options listed. No dates. Not much use.

The 800 number is even less informative.

I did email BMWUSA, and they confirmed the factory options in great detail and provided a date. They say it will come out of production during week ending June 11. But they declined to estimate when I might have the key in my hand. I can sort of understand that, but all I asked for was a range of dates so I could plan around July 4.

Don't go by the OC or even the phone tracking. Sorry I've taken delivery of my car two weeks ago, and the OC never showed the options I selected (except Black Leather). The only other thing it gave me was the VIN (which was helpful when looking around for insurance)

The dealer make it out to be like BMW made a major technological breakthrough by using this system, when in real life, it is just a glorified flash presentation, which updates sometimes 2-3 weeks late.

I won't be impressed until you can log on and actually see pictures of the car being built, and pics that update every day that show exactly where the car is. Maybe it's too much to ask?

Your best bet is to talk to your dealer. They have a much more elaborate tracking system than the one we're given on the OC.

Thats kind of what I was thinking. Thanks for the info - that way I won't be getting frustrated seeing no progress on my car.

Send a message via Yahoo to ldpantoja
I don't think it is or maybe my dealer hasnt posted anything yet. I finally got the call yesterday. I fill out customs paperwork today and it will be forwarded to Munich. Once they do that. It's should be less than 2 weeks

Just for fun I called up the 800 number. It tells me my vehicle is in production and has an estimated completion date of June 7. The oc website still says that it is "on order".

I'm just curious when or where the OC begins to show the vehicle's VIN? I know from the 800 number that my car has completed production and "is being transported to the port of exit" but I don't see any VIN # yet on OC.

Where should I be looking? Thanks.

UPDATE: woops, I found it. Guess I wasn't looking hard enough. Its under Review Order Details.

I do not see any options in Owner Circle as well. When I call 1-800 number and speak to a rep, she told me all the options including my order.

When you call the 800 number, pick the option to talk to a real person. I have found that they have the most up to date information. But once the car gets on a boat, they have no more tracking info. At that point your dealer is your best source.
