These are my first BMW's (E90 & E60) and I don't think I can drive anything else. You can say I'm a die hard fanboy lol. However I do love Audi's as well..

Depends on which model bmw but. I'm open minded, went from r32 skyline (used to live in Japan), Toyota lucida, mit. eclipse, xterra, Benz glk 350, e90 328, now Honda pilot.

I need different cars for different purposes but next car has to be e90 m3 and I don't mind a little '04 mustang for loud fun

fan for life? yes.

however, when shopping for a vehicle, the bmw would definitely be the 'benchmark' but it doesn't mean i won't consider other brands.

Fan for life? I'm not even sure what to think of that question. I drive a car, when I'm done with it I get a different one...whatever I feel like getting at the time. It's an object, a piece of metal, a THING. Sure I like driving it but if it burned to the ground tomorrow I wouldn't shed a tear.

I owned an 87 (e28) M5. This is my first e92. I've own it for 2 weeks. Love the stilling and handling. If the car is reliable, yes, I'll be a fan.

Yes. Absolutely. Best car I've ever owned in terms of raw performance and sophistication.

My old GTI GLX VR6 was pretty fun though. As was my fully restored '65 Bug.

'01 Land River Disco series 2 was badass as well.

Recent dog shit car was a 2001 Mercedes C240. What a dog. Horrible.

91 Prelude SI was fun.

First car was '83 Subaru GL. Amazing car for the Midwest snow. Before Subaru's were cool again. I hated it when my dad made me buy it but after a fee months I loved it. Snow plow. Never a single problem until it finally seized up on a sub zero Iowa winter day. Amazing car for 1983.

After buying my first one I thought I'd never buy anything but BMW. I want that to still be the case, but I just like the e9x platform so much more than what they've been releasing lately. Maybe my mind will change when we see the numbers for the f8x.

If not, I might switch to Porsche. Maybe even AMG (though doubtful).

I'll always want an e92 m3 and once I get one, I will keep it forever.

As for newer BMWs, we'll have to see.

Let's just say I didn't even bother walking to an Audi, Benz, Infiniti, or Acura dealer when I bought my E90.
After having a different brand for a year, my longing for BMW grew to a point where I felt if I bought another car (even if it might be "better), I'd regret not buying a BMW.

So yes I am a fanboy.

But the new stuff is leaving me more and more cold and looking at different cars too.

Two BMW Family

I would never commit to a lifetime with any business entity, but could not think of any other cars I would want to own and drive right now.
My daily driver is a 2007 X3 is with the M package and my wife just traded her beloved 04 Honda CR-v for a 08 328i and stopped even thinking about her old car the moment she started the E90 for the first time. I switched from a MB C350 which I liked well enough, but it was a lot less fun to drive than my E83. Maintenance is no worse than any other vehicle, I use an independent BMW mechanic with reasonable pricing and purchased warranties for most of the potentially big ticket items.

I can't see myself owning a different car. I mean I will but it'd probably be a second car. Not only because these cars are amazing but because the whole bmw community is just good fun. All the meets and cool people, hard to let that go. The only regret I have is not having enough experience driving other cars to really appreciate the quality this car to its full potential. Although now I am starting to realize that. But yeah that's all I got to say, also mods are endless with these cars which is great.
