Actually, the starting price of the G37 sedan is the same as the E90 328i. They are both 44k give or take a few hundred for a base model. The 335i runs at about 52k base.

I would take a 04 G35 over a 328i and possibly my current 330i. I am not a fan of the styling of the G37, far too curvy and feminine for my liking. The G35 far surpasses it in my opinion.

I considered the G37 in 2007 when I leased my first 328i. Sure it was faster and better equipped but in terms of pure driving dynamics and sophistication, the BMW was and is a better car. I'm not all about straight line speed but about how a car responds to inputs. The BMW is easily the better car IMO.

Just in terms of power the g37 is more on the line with the 335i

x2.

hell some of these Hyundai's with their pretty torquey V6's have come a long way, and I've tried driving one around, but overall feel of the car is with the BMW.

Some of those V6's can do amazing things in some cars in a straight line.

Just looking at the models as they are, I would compare a G25 to the 328i, G37 to the 335i. Such as a C250 to a 328i, C350 to a 335i, C63 to a M3.

In terms of power, the G37 would be compared to the 335i. However, in terms of price the 335i is more expensive. Also, the C250 is compared to the 323i (E90) the 328i's respective competitor would be the C300.

I was debating between a G37S convertible and 335i convertible. In conclusion, I opted for the 335i because it was more PIMpppppping. Well, too many of my friends have the g35/g37. I didn't want to be a biter so I got something different.

I've thought about this for myself quite a bit: in terms of raw hp/dollar, the G37 wins and I've almost kicked myself for not seriously considering one - could have had low 300s hp for the same price as my 230, that's hard to ignore. But at the same time, I'm overall happier with the 328 than I think I would have been with a G35 or 37. They look good, but I like the overall style and lines on the 328 more. Something about the sort of swooping headlights and grill on the Gs irks me, whereas I think the front end of my car looks classy as hell. I like my interior more too, though in fairness I've never been IN a G personally. The analog clock bothers me - some find it sophisticated and a mark of luxury, which I can appreciate, but I personally prefer a more technical instrumented look. If anything, I feel like my center console is too simple.

In the end, I think trading all the other things I really like about my 328 for simply more power would be sort of wasted on me anyway. I'd love a more powerful car, who wouldn't, but not in trade. I'd get a 335, maybe, but not a G I don't think.

Und auch, Ich liebe Deutsche Autos

The problem with your horsepower compare is the Japanese horses are smaller then the German ones.

I initially had a Black G37S coupe (got totalled by a POS civic) before getting my e92 328 2 years ago. I do love the way the BMW handles and the refinement in the I6.

However... The G is like a gorilla waiting to be unleashed when given gas. It's a tad bit heavier, so the BMW balance wasn't there, but in many ways the VLSD makes up for it.

The 335i is a GREAT car and it easily outshines the G37, but like many people say... never own a BMW out of warranty. I want to pull the trigger on a 335i, but just can't due to the cost of replacing parts out of warranty (Turbo/etc). I can do it myself... but nah... I'm a former DSM'er as well, so I know how bad turbos can be a PITA.

So now, I'm selling my e92 328i and going back to a G37 primarily due to the anemic I6 engine. Yes... it's smooth as butter, but if it ain't a 335 (in warranty) or an M3. I gotta look elsewhere.

My next car after this though will be an e92 M3. Gonna miss my e92, but it is what it is.

Somewhat this lol.. My older sister has one and she always lets me drive it, yes I do get a bit crazy but its fun driving around the NA VQ V6.. but a few things I always found wrong with it, that I felt a friend's 08 328 just did better with...
  • Early Models only had a 5 Speed, which slowed Acceleration and was horrible on Gas.. yet the new 7 speed might be the most indecisive transmission ever.. You must adapt on the highway to ease in to the pedal instead of flooring it to pass someone, kickdown takes FOREVER
  • the VQ37 V6 is always so loud even if you're not going anywhere fast....
  • the G37 had absolutely NO fuel economy saving features (visible to the driver) and my sister whom is 30 and drives around a child, not flooring it ever managed to get 16mpg city...
  • the leather on a 2011 lease became wrinkley only after about a year..
  • The sedan is extremely small in the back and has those HORRIBLE floor humps making the back middle seat useless to anyone on a long drive..
  • In terms of throttle power, its so hard to just drive in this car, I find you're always either zooming and getting thrown back in your seat, or tap dancing with the gas pedal and crawling, too much effort to be normal..

These are just the negatives, car still is a rocket for its price, handles like a champ even at high speeds, has a great interior, tons of standard features, packages don't run up thousands and thousands of dollars like the BMW.. I find the 3er is just more fun to drive.. but to each their own.

+ as someone who has been in accident in one of these cars, it held up extremely well and everybody walked away.

++++ I think Infiniti dropped the ball, being the 2014 "Q50" sports the same engine as the outgoing model, no turbo... no supercharger.. just a gas guzzling NA..

Nope, n54, the 09 sedans came with the 54, they started putting n55's in the 2011 sedans

Well, we got reliability with the price competitor (328), just not the power competitor (335)

even though the 328i is no where near the nice bmws.. i would never get an infin. they dont handle the same, simply they are not a drivers car... therefore 328i all the way

Couldn't agree more. I owned an 04 coupe and loved it but would never consider a g37, they completly ruined the lines of the G coupe with the 37
