Help...Rubbage
Hello all,
I'm running the following set up in the rear... -19x9.5 et20 265/30 -Fenders rolled -Camber set at -2.0 I'm rubbing on big bumps. From the looks of it, I'm very very very close to clearing the rear tires. The easiest fix in my mind is to have it realigned and adjust the camber to -2.5 or even -3.0. Not sure how that's going to affect tire wear and performance??? And I definitely don't know if that will fix the problem. The other option I see is to get new tires 255/30's? Thoughts anyone? Also, kind of unrelated, but my wheel has a slight shake in it around 45 mph. It goes away around 55 mph. Do I just need to balance the wheels? |

To answer your second question it sounds like a wheel balance issue.

yeah that happened to me...I was 19x9.5(+21) with 265 and I rubbed on big bumps. You could add some negative camber, or you can try some FK Bumpstops for the rear.

fk bumpstops are made to help with bottoming out, but it also raises the car a SMALL bit. Enough to stop rubbing. I know I've done that too. You add these to your rear struts, it takes about 15 mins or so to do...

Found some from ECS Tuning. Is this a DIY install? Any instructions anywhere? I'm not very handy plus I don't have many tools here nor a lot of time (I'm in medical school).

Get the FK Quick Power bump stops. They have little slits so that you can just slide them right onto the strut, it's a very straight forward and easy DIY. Just out of curiosity does your school have a subject based approach or organ systems?

Its really easy no major tools need. Just a jack, and maybe something to take your wheels off with...and a cold beer. You should be able to do this before finishing a beer. There is a sleeve that is on your struts, pull that down put the FK bumpstops in pull the sleeve back up...then repeat on the other wheel. I would also suggest using some axle grease or something and put on the bump stop. It is urethane and when rubbing against the strut rod will cause an ANNOYING rubbing/squeaking sound, the grease stops this. I hope it help

Look under your wheel well and check exactly where you're rubbing. You probably need to only clear 1-2mm of space since it sounds very minor. Might be the corner of your fender liner which you can maybe tuck away a bit. Bump stops are a good idea if you don't mind raising your car a few millimeters.

It is my understanding they essentially just increase the size of the bump stop area to keep the suspension from compressing as far. |
