Soooo this happened..
1 month old M3 rep bumper freshly painted + H&R's
Fixable or not? How much would I be looking at? How would one even fix this? Thanks Edit: That silver stuff is duct tape that I had put to hold it in place earlier (did a good job for a while)

My parents driveway... girlfriend and mother distracting me in the car.. I run over the curb and had to pull the car back over it again. Hurt my heart.

I don't really need it painted.. just need it glued back on.. I think i'll wait till the spring swap over to my summer wheels and when I have the wheel off and the car high on a jack I can spend some time gluing it up nicely.

Try the home fix-it job and see how it goes. What's the worst that can happen? Depending on the condition of the car, you ultimately want to get a new cover and paint it.

I've actually done alot of home bumper repairs. What you need is some sort of super glue to secure it first, and then you would need to use some fillers to fill the cracks. Once the filler is done drying. Get sand paper to smooth it out. Afterward, just spray on primer, sand, base coat, clear coat. This should be around $70 in supplies. Looks practically perfect.
I actually did a similar thing for filling my bumper license plate holes, and a little boo boo that I got on my rear bumper. |

Get a lip as someone said. If you want to fix it, maybe some JBweld?

Do a little research. what you're looking for is an epoxy that is made just for the type of plastic that the bumper is made of.
Repair from the BACK so you have minimal body work to do on the finished side. JB Weld may even make an epoxy just for plastic bumpers, if not, check with an autobody repair supply company.... Primer: you can get primer with what they call a flex agent...this allows it to flex in the heat and shrink in the cold without cracking, as the plastic does alot of moving around in different temps. I have repaired plenty of motorcycle side covers and if you don't find the right epoxy, it will just break again... I would back up your repair with Gorilla Glue Tape after you have finished with the epoxy. That tape is like a weather resistant super duper duct tape. Depending on how well your repair goes, you may not even need much in the way of paint. Incidentally, the best way to repair that damage is to take the bumper off and do your work on a table. Lastly, collect any loose pieces of bumper NOW so you have all the pieces of the puzzle for when you do are ready to do the repair. Good luck with it and post pics as you go along... JP |

Thanks all...
The idea of getting a lip is a good one but I've recently just bought a bike so I need my funds for that.. besides I don't know how a lip would fit on that broken piece and to be honest it'll make it lower which would just make it a matter of time before that gets ripped off along with bumper lol.. I live in Toronto - not very suitable for lowered cars with all the condo and underground garages and car parks. What I will be doing is finding an epoxy like some of you mentioned that works with the plastic/polyurethane. Crazy glue makes one as does JB Weld. JB weld is supposed to be better so I might check that out. Once I take the wheel off and lift the car up, I'll have a better idea of what I'm working with. Most likely I'll clean and glue the splitter back and then secure it from the back with some strong duct tape as someone mentioned. Will post pics.
