Newb trying to upgrade Base Audio

Been researching the hell out of this on here on the forums and I think I finally got a setup that might work for me and will be easy to install. At first I was thinking of doing the Alpine HiFi Upgrade since it was so simple and comes with everything I need but then I realized for about the same amount of money I probably could create a better package. Here's what I've come with, suggestions or changes are welcomed!

Code HU to HiFi

Technic Stereo 2/4 PnP Harness

JL XD400/4 Amp

Rainbow SLX 210 Components

SWS-8 Earthquake Subs

Thoughts?

That's the standard solution.

That's the standard solution.
Least expensive known to work .
I think Technic can sell you speaker adapters
and factory connectors to.
Don't know if he does the tweeter pod mounts
you may have to order that from BMW.

I suppose you read this to get the info

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323

You could use better speaker but that would be
a lot more expensive (Jehnerts, Morels)

I like it when people do there homework

Yup that was the first thing I read, I usually search and read before asking any questions. Thanks for the PM by the way those links are definitely going to help a whole lot! I also didn't know Technic could sell me the adapters and factory connectors too! That was actually going to be my next question, now if I can only get a hold of him seems like a busy guy and I've already Pm'd him twice and no answer

Keep in mind, if you use a 2/4 harness and re-code your headunit, you will have no rear fill. If you have rear seat passengers, this may be an issue for you.

Technic is making a plastic speaker adaptor now.
It looks like he can now sell you most of what you need for
a hook up kit in one fell swoop.

Also I saw this but its from the UK

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-4-FRON...-/190740622344

It can take awhile to get a PM reply from him and he doesn't like to answer if its on the weekend
I guess he actually uses his weekends for something besides this. So he will probably answer in a few days.

That actually didn't cross my mind. I'm at a crossroad now because I was trying to keep the price of the build down without having to buy a JL cleansweep or MS8. I know you need to start with a clean signal for the best sound quality but I wonder what it would sound without either coding or a cleansweep.

If he could sell me the whole hook up kit and all I have to add is the door sails it would save me a whole lot of searching. I guess i'll just wait until he responds and take it from there. Thanks!

PM replied.

You may try the SLX 210 without any OEM HU signal correction DSP and no coding, either by using the soft tweeter output from its crossover (that would mimic what the OEM Alpine kit does) or using the OEM Treble adjustment at the OEM HU and a smartphone RTA as a poor-man Cleansweep.

The woofers and the rear speakers need no correction.

HiFi coding is only recommended when a 6-channel, balanced inputs aftermarket amp is to be installed in a Stereo system.

So after some more researching I decided I rather have a DSP to get the most out of my speakers. I ran into the JBL MS-A1004 which is a two in one Amp and DSP. Would it be fine to just have this or running a separate DSP and Amp work better?

Price is not bad either for what you get.

Now I just need to find a place that sells the SLX 210 Deluxe or SLC 210.25NG because I've tried to Google an authorized dealer and they seems near impossible to find.

Does that amp do input signal flattening .

Does that amp do input signal flattening .
Although it does say processing the manual says
nothing about input signal flattening as far as I can
tell.

Did not notice that! I was so ready to buy it thinking I lucked out. Guess I'll have to go with my original idea and get a CleanSweep + Amp.

I'm so frustrated trying to find the correct solution to upgrade my system. Have read multiple threads, but seems there are a lot of missing parts of the puzzle to make a simple purchase.

I have 2010 with iDrive but with base system. I know I can purchase BSW system, but don't want to drop $700 for 2 pairs of speakers.

I need to know the following:

Window seals (with tweeters): what is the correct part number from BMW?

Speaker wire adapters: Technics kit? How do I purchase a kit to allow me to upgrade all my speakers without cutting/splicing the factory wires?

Battery thermal connector: what adapter can I use/purchase to hook an amp to the battery?

Under seat subwoofer bracket: I see that there is an adapter needed to install 8" woofers under seat, and I see there is also a speaker wire adapter needed.

Component speaker options: what brands, models work in front door and rear deck for best fit and good sound?

Subwoofer options for under seats?

JBL processor? I have seen photos of people using one, why do I need one and other options?

If I can get all the right information to do the correct job, I would be more than happy to put together an extremely detailed "turnkey" install help guide for others.

Thank you all so much for the help

Contact MusicarNorthwest. They can deliver a complete package of everything that you need (no need to run around trying to collect every little part required).

Their kits make DIY a breeze, and they are COMPLETE and plug & play (no cutting, no splicing, no fabrication required).

Start reading this here http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323

That sticky will answer all the questions you asked, I know it did for me when I first started to learn about our cars stereo.

I too has been thinking of going this route, I have a e93 base so my concern is about mounting depth of adding components speakers, I was thinking of just adding the alpine hifi speaker upgrade with the technic Stereo 4/6 harness and Rockford Fosgate Punch P500X4D and powering the under seat sub with a MTX TD1000.1D amp that I already have and adding JL audio clean swap CL441dsp. My question is has anyone done this before? Change out the stock base speakers for the Hifi upgrade and adding a 4ch amp to them, if so how do they sound. Sorry if this is

Hi Fi speakers are not work the effort to change, much less spending any type of money on them. I'd definitely look to upgrade to a better-quality than what BMW supplies.
