08 335xi sedan- would 255/35/18's on 8 & 8.5 wheels look silly??
Looking to go with 18" OEM wheels on my xi sedan.
Would 255/35/18 tires on 8 and 8.5 wheels look OK on my car? Standard suspension, not lowered. Trying to avoid even more space between the tire and the fender than I already have.....

Your tire will apparently change 0.2" in height for every 0.5" of rim width. So 255 on 8.0 will be 0.2" taller than 255 on 8.5, probably not enough to shrink the gap you are trying to fill.
Having said that, 255 is apparently the maximum size for 8.5" rim and too big for 8.0" anyway. http://www.pneus-online.co.uk/equiva...es-advice.html Although 255 on 8.5 seems to look ok? http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=110 ![]() |

Thank you! Gotta control my impulses! I appreciate the info. Never thought wheels and tires could be so complicated!

+1 that 255/35R18 tires are outside the recommended tire size range for 18X8.
