Angry Too many choices for iPod/Bluetooth, need some advice

Hi Everyone,

I've been searing for a way to upgrade my tech in my 07 328xi (HiFi, no logic7)

What I'm really after is to be able to add bluetooth and iPod integration (and nav if I could) but really the first two alone would be nice, and I would like to keep steering wheel integration.

I seem to not be able to tell whether or not what I find will work, always seem to find small issues with everything.

One option was the Parrot Asteroid Tablet with UNKIA steering wheel controls but apparently thats not compatible with my car. the BMW Portable Nav Pro was also an option as it supposedly intergrated with the car but I found it doesn't work on cars made before 09/07.

DICE seems to be going and I can't tell if MoBridge or Denison are going to work either.

I'm open to a new HU. I would love to try the new Zenec but I can't seem to find a way to buy it in the US.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

When I recently bought my 2007 328xi I squawked about the car not having bluetooth. The dealer installed, at a discount, the BMW portable navigation.

You are right, the integration does not work prior to 9/07. The sound only comes out of the unit. I'm not at all happy with the bluetooth. The nav works well and the unit looks good, no wires. Much better solution than a suction cup mount IMO.

I'm going to go install a European Professional radio. They have bluetooth, USB, and sometimes Sirius built in. Seems a lot simpler to me than installing modules.

They always seem to be available on eBay, but none there right now! You have to make sure the sticker says bluetooth on it.

I'm interested to see what other opinions you get on this thread. Good luck!

Thank you for the advice, does it need to be European or just any Pro radio with the bluetooth logo on it?

I don't think it has to be European, but I don't think they ever equipped the US cars with that radio. There are some posts here about it, and a YouTube video as well. Apparently some coding may be required, but looks tons easier than retrofitting the module(s) for USB and bluetooth.

Hey smith, I'm curious as to why the Parrot unit would not work in your car. I'm looking into buying one and haven't been able to find pictures/threads involving the install into an e9x yet.

The unit would be fine, but the UNIKA for steering wheel control apparently will not work, which is a deal breaker for me

So you replaced the head unit? Where did you find it? eBay or Forums?
