Front crankshaft oil seal - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I'm looking at the Carfax of an 08 335i and on the service history it says the front crankshaft oil seal was replaced at 47K miles. Is this something I should be concerned about? I tried searching but haven't found much about it. Also can someone pull the entire service history if I give them the VIN? Or should I just go to the dealer myself? Thanks.

If the drive belt is not replaced and it break it wraps around the crankshaft and causes an oil leak.

Well the car is almost at 70K now with no issues at all so I assume it should be fine now.

Maybe it just had a bad seal....

Yeah I think its probably fine now, just a little concerning that a seal like that would go out so early.
