Replacing Stock Mufflers with Magnaflow Mufflers. Big Change?

Hey guys,

So I have a 2010 E92 335i and I enjoy the "clean" sound of an exhaust more than I enjoy the loud sound of one. Anyways, I wanted my car to be louder so I headed to a muffler shop near my hometown and he told me to delete the mufflers. I told him that I had a friend who had done this to his 335i and that I didnt like how loud it was and hated the drone it gave off. He then recommended that I simply replace my stock mufflers with magnaflow mufflers. He said that would give my car a cleaner more pronounced sound. Has anyone ever tried this or can someone help me out? Thanks

Get downpipes with the stock exhaust and call it a day. I'm not a fan of magnaflows myself, but I know there are a bunch of people on here that love them.

I'm a Magnaflow fan. I've replaced stock mufflers on previous project cars and haven't been disappointed. They usually give you a more deeper/throatier tone than loud. What I used to call, "the grown man." If you're tuned, you might want to start with down pipes and golf tee mod first since it gives off a good sound. If stock, go for it since you still have the primary cats in the down pipes. Every cat-back exhaust I've herd on a stock 335i sounds amazing.

SN: Since I still have my secondaries... I might swap my mufflers in the Spring.

You could always try modifying your stock exhaust to get some more sound out of it:

If you don't feel like cutting up your mufflers, buy some used ones and try experimenting with those first.

I did it and it was a waste of time and money. The change was so minimal you could barely notice. I ended up doing a muffler delete and selling the mufflers 3 days later.

Like others have said, just get catless DPs and you will be very pleased with the sound.

HKS

I have a HKS system and love the sound it produces. Can't wait for warmer weather. Enjoy the windows down 1/2 and hearing the music they make through the rev range. I have a 07 coupe and no complaints. Can't say how much the power changed, but audio wise "oh yea"..... Luv this blown straight six.
