Need new BRAKES... where to buy?
I bought my 07 e92 335 with rusted brakes... they work, no problems... but i dont like how rust looks on my car (who does)
Any good sets with front and rear? Any recommendations on companies? or even what to stay away from...? ![]()

But you can always go for painted hub rotors. Zimmerman or OEM are good money saving rotors. if you want performance/looks you can go with stop-tech/dba/ ebc rotors that are slotted or drilled/both. pads are up to you. you can get OEM's which offer really good initial brake bite, but fades and dusts like no other. I run hawk HPS pads, great pads same price as oem if not cheaper. some people go with akebono, hawks, cool carbon and others. many like ceramic options because no brake dust. oh and get front and rear sensors if you are replacing pads (i got mine on ebay for 20 bucks) you can get these anywhere i think. there is nothing wrong with autozone, but i wouldnt really want any autozone/ napa parts on my car. like wagner brakes. i feel they are super cheap for a reason in my opinion. Oh and i would look into painting your calipers to make it look better. you could powder coat them or paint them yourself. maybe add a decal on them. |

The rust is all over the rotor.... I thought it would go away by driving and stepping on the brake... but its got a hold on the rotor. Should i just remove the wheel and try to clean it since the brakes aren't failing me yet?

It's going to happen again and again. Unless your rotors/ pads are compromised in an operational fashion, I wouldn't bother.

The brake rotors on your BMW are made of cast iron. Cast iron rusts. You will never be able to rid your brakes of rust. The reason the rotors are cast iron is because cast iron has a unique property that once rust forms on its surface it stops more rust from occurring underneath the surface rust. Cast iron is the common chosen material for brake rotors specifically because it has this property, which is why brake rotors can last for many years without "rusting out" before the brake pads are fully consumed.
In other words, your brake rotors are behaving as designed. Leave it be. |

I had gotten these and put them on... No rust on the hub and when it rains or gets wet from washing, rust appears on the disc where the pad meet but come off after braking a few times as all cars.
The plating keeps the hub from rusting, so far anyway. Had them on for about 5 months...no brake dust what so ever, brake power and feel is excellent. http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...n+%26+Steering |

though it should go away with some use. If not, then i would get new pads if your pads are looking low and not contacting the rotor face 100%. Cause in theory it should wipe away that rust. have you solved your needle alignment issue? |

Whats “out of spec”?
|
If your super against the rotor rust issue you can go with a rotor that's has anti corrosion coating such as geomet (ECS)
