can the 335i transmission handle Mods

Approaching FBO on my car I'm getting concerned with the life of my transmission(i did a tranny flush at 50k miles and I'm sitting at 80k now), i have mechanics at my shop saying that increasing the power of my car as I'm doing is not the best idea, they are telling me that the transmission wasn't designed for all the tourqe gains and could possibly ruin my converter, + they are telling me that my engine may blow a head gasket...and my turbos are more likey to blow or go a ton quicker its just and indy shop my dad owns.. no bmw specialists, but very good mechanics..
so im kinda taking their word into consideration, my biggest concern is the transmission honestly. but mean if the turbos blow i guess its time for RBs. but i know the N54 block is almost bullet proof correct me if I'm wrong.

Ideas, comments would be greatly appreciated.
As always Flames are welcome.. and i apologize in advance if this has been covered before, didn't really get the answer i wanted from my searches.

The ZF AT trans is a quality piece, people who run just a tune intake + meth are making more power than people running FBO w/o meth. If you're really that concerned, take into account that Vishnu is running 600 HP+ on an AT and it's not blowing up. And when's the last time you really heard about people destroying their trans after going FBO?

Shiv did upgrade the AT for the single-turbo kit to make sure it was able to keep up with the power, so if you're really concerned, allow me to introduce you to Level 10 Trans (http://WWW.LEVELTEN.COM/Bmw_automati...-g110-9000.htm). enrita (you can search him, is running RB turbos) had his trans rebuilt by them + he runs his car on the Nürburgring (so it's not just the stress of increased power, but also running the car full tilt on the worlds most demanding race track). If you search through the threads he's created, there's one on there about the Level 10 trans rebuild, how the shift were quicker, some video, etc etc

Tell that to lostmarine... I have an AT as well so I'm hoping it stays together. I just feel a transmission thats rated at 295lbs tq. that you then crank up to 500lbs + is wishful thinking if you believe it will last forever.

The trans isn't rated at 295 torque, it is rated at 450 nm which is a little over 330 and there is a good 20% of headroom, so I wouldn't worry much unde 400 ft/lbs.

A friend of mine blew his transmission on his 2 year old
335i, he had tune, dps, and intake . But he did take the car to the track about 4 times where some launching was done. BMW didn't cover it and he paid out of pocket. These transmissions are quite strong, just don't do any launching and Youl be fine

Just depends on how many hard lauches you do (or floor it in a high gear at low RPM). I daily drove my fully modded/upgraded turbo 6AT for 15,000 miles and it didn't slip once. It was FBO and Meth for probably 60K miles. Just know when and how to modulate the "throttle"

Don't shock the tranny, and curb torque in the midrange. That's all you can do to extend the life of the auto short of a rebuild/upgrade.

strongly recommend trans cooler ,which we all should know heat is the main killer of the auto....good for lowering temps. 20/30 degrees . also not a fan of 2nd gear launches, that clutchpak in most american cars has less clutches in it to hold that type of heavy torque/load that occurs in dragracing.my vet prior to trans cooler was iirc 230 degs. after 170/180 even on a hot day if you think about it almost the same reason to put a larger i.c. on our cars is to prevent heat soak and i would presume longer turbo life same some what principle applies here.

I do about 30 times 3rd gear launch when 50-70km/h to test my 100-200 times in a month.(floor it in high gear at low RPM) My car is also FBO with Meth and then it slips. My R-3-5 gears are gone so keep in mind haha

So what i gather from this post, is that keeping a 335i auto around 400-450 whp is pretty safe for our tranny's, if you keep it off the track and no hard launches with sticky tires...

haha, don't we all...

i just spent 10k on my 05 stangs short block last spring to have it last 2500 miles cause the inline fuse holder of my NEW fuel pump setup lost its connection and melted two pistons....can't tune out a lean spike when its electrical...that's another story though...

So im now im looking into getting an 09 335i and am trying to put together a fun drive daily driver.

my stang put down 520/505 with a goal an end goal 800-850 whp with an f1a procharger and e85.

i am not looking for anything like that as i want to drive this car. im over the garage queens and building an engine every winter.

im hoping the 335i is my new found love...lol
i need more than 280 whp though
