good independent mechanic needed NAperville, il - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I've always gone to the dealer for my maintenance, but out of warranty now and need a head gasket replaced. Car is slowly leaking oil onto the turbo's, as pointed out by my dealer last oil change. Bill Jacobs wants $1400 to do the work which seems outrageous to me. Looking for anyone that may have a recommendation for someone in the Naperville, IL area. Thanks in advance.

I know some BMW techs that do some side work, but they are located about 20-25 min southwest of Naperville.

Corwell customs inc is in Naperville. He works on BMW but is new to the e90 model. He is familiar with e46 and older. But he does cheaper work for e90 cause he's learning. I go to him for my stuff just cause he's cheaper. Id say ask him what he could do. No harm in calling right? L just say Kathy referred you

isn't 1400 a fair deal for a HG job? Well if you wnt the best of the best and the cheapest prices go to A&L autobody in Palatine. I know its a drive but its worth it for your car.

I think so. I've been down this route, and it's a lot of work . It's more than fair. If you want a cheaper fix , you should have bought a Honda.

Take it to VS motorsports in schaumburg, itll be worth the drive, they know bimmers inside out

Fluid Motor Union is another option they on 59th and 119th st.
I have read mixed reviews for them on this forum, but I am taking my 335i and X5 to them for last 3 years and so far I am happy with their services and prices. OJ is their Master Tech guy who knows BMW In and Out, he used to work for Joe Perillo BMW in Chicago as Master Tech.

I am sure other options as people mention are good too..

I use Laurel BMW in Westmont also. They are the only dealer in our area that have Indy shop prices and are really good. I would try them first.

I dont know that a Dealership can give you Indy rates. what their labor charges are, normally its $145 range at Dealership. I also observed that Indy charges less like 80-100 per hr but then they charge like 3 hr for a job which actually takes 2 hr to do. So they sometime stick you with more hrs worked then the rate.
